Didi Hamann has being laying into Karius

"To publicly show his suffering after the final whistle was just as unnecessary as his tearful asking for forgiveness from the Reds fans."

Hart was an excellent keeper, his form's just gone off a cliff in recent years.
I remember the first game of the 2010/11 season at WHL, Hart had just come back to City from loan and been third choice behind Green and James at the WC. He played an absolute blinder against us, made some outrageous saves. Nobody can deny that he was very talented.

Would love to see them sign Donnarumma, he’s the next Joe Hart in the making (I.e. perceived to be better than he is due to his age)

Looking like Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona. Apparently they've made their interest known & he wants to go. Having never seen the lad play, I don't know if that's a reason to laugh at them?

Wow. Genuinely surprised by that. Hamann has always come across as a decent guy whenever I've seen him interviewed etc.

I think it depends on the context.
He could mean he shouldn't have to apologise it should be granted and he should be supported by these fans who sing youll never walk alone but dont actually mean a word of it.

Not judging from the actual statement mate.

"My sympathy with Karius is limited," Hamann told Sport Bild. "We don't have to discuss that he decided the final with his two mistakes. Something like that can also happen to a professional footballer. But what I didn't like was his behaviour afterwards.

"To publicly show his suffering after the final whistle was just as unnecessary as his tearful asking for forgiveness from the Reds fans."

Hamann went on to suggest that Karius' ego exceeds his performances, and took a dig at his alleged personalised number plate - highlighting that is something Cristiano Ronaldo could get away with given his success in the Champions League.

"Liverpool fans forgive their stars just as well as any other, the anthem 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is part of life out at the club," Hamann added.

"With one exception: when your ego doesn't match your performance. Karius drives through Liverpool with the personalised number plates 'LK1' and makes waves in the city whenever he steps out.

"That is something Cristiano Ronaldo can pull off in Madrid, because he has won the Champions League five times.

"Someone like Karius has not achieved anything yet in his career and should be happy to have been given the chance by Klopp at a world-class club."

I can understand the frustration of all the Liverpool players and ex-players along with the media and the fans because up until Saturday nights final whistle the daft eejits had thought all they had to do was turn up and collect the trophy.

I understand the criticism of him showboating around town etc. (if that's true, I dunno), that's fair enough, but I don't really get where Hamann is coming from with the rest of it.

I don't think he was begging for forgiveness he was apologizing to the fans for letting them down. I actually thought it was brave of him to do that to be honest and I'm sure he just wanted to go down the tunnel and disappear but he stood up and owned it and faced the fans. Not sure what there is to criticize about that really.

As for "showing his suffering" I don't see how you can criticize Karius for that. I think if you looked back at the final whistle clips of every CL final ever then you'll see 11 players on the losing team showing their suffering. Don't really understand Hamann's point at all there to be honest.

You expect this sort of thing from morons like Pennant, but coming from a compatriot is a bit odd...you'd think he'd show Karius some sympathy at least.

He even mentions it but what happened to 'You'll never walk alone' ?... or do terms and conditions apply to that bullshit.

Yeah - Hamann’s criticism seems almost like he’s had a personal incident with Karius in the past.

*Checks images of his car*

Nah, guy’s a twat. Personalised number plate is bad enough but to make the G-Class look shit takes some doing. Kick him in the sponge!

To own an off road vehicle and have it lowered so it cant perform off road. Madness.
