The Times have put together a pretty huge piece on the Poch interest.

They insist the release clause and/or verbal agreement are NOT true.

They say Spurs are confident they can resist all advances. Spurs are said to be comforted by the fact Poch didn't ask for a clause despite knowing of the heavy interest from RM.

Finally they say if Poch's head does get turned. They'll demand the full £42.5m of his contract value as compensation.
I genuinely doubt it comes to this but I am assuming there is also no clause for his staff who he would almost assuredly demand come with. Levy would no doubt demand compensation equal to all 4 of their contracts which I bet would be £55-60 million. They would then have to offer them all equal or greater wages. Yes Madrid have that kind of money on tap but Levy would make Madrid bleed.

I understand why many on here are nervous and I really don't blame you but there is a reason why Poch and Levy did what they did both knowing Madrid could come calling.

Why does bc never get mentioned for the rm job? He's been telling everyone what poch has done wrong for years.

If Poch succumbs to Madrid’s advances, the only way I’d be ok with that is if we got Luis Enrique in, Bale & Modric back as part of the deal plus £800M in compensation.

And Poch to return a year later after being sacked for only winning 3 trophies.

I think that with Real Madrid, you can't go there and still be learning how to win matches by in-game management. You have to already be able to manage the team and substitutions to win. At Spurs, Pochettino is clearly still learning this and should continue to develop that skill.

Zz already knew in game management better than poch? Or had gareth bale on the bench?

Amazed at some being so relaxed about this.

This is our worst nightmare come true. Just had to happen that Perez has the hots for Poch, he always seems to target Spurs ffs. Modric, Bale, now Poch.

I am really worried. I don't think Poch will go, but I could imagine it easily. If his head gets turned, it's bye bye Poch. Would be a disaster for us.

Not sure how he turns them down.

You seem much more confident with your posts on RedCaf, are you bluffing on there?

Primativ on REDCAFE.... also 35 there...

Signing a new 5 year contract just 7 days ago is absolutely an indication of his future desires. I can't believe people are trying to spin it that signing a new contract just a week ago is not a sign of Poch's commitment to Spurs. Poch would have to be a moron, if he thought he shouldn't wait to see what happens at Madrid before signing the new Spurs contract. Poch could easily have delayed signing a new contract for another month or two to see what happened at Madrid before committing to Spurs. Spurs wouldn't have been able to rush Poch, they would have had to deal with it. Yet Poch signs a new contract within weeks of the season finishing. That is the absolute sign of commitment to Spurs, and all this speculation about him getting wet for Madrid is just baseless speculation.

Just saw this on the BBC site about Zidane, from the English version of AS: Full article on Zidane here.

Indeed, he is understood to have already told his close circle that there is a very good chance that he'll decide not to stay on, regardless of results. He began to weigh this up back in August and, although he extended his contract until 2020 earlier this term, that would not be an issue. He has always maintained that, at the end of every season, he will sit down with the club's president, Florentino Pérez, to take stock and decide whether he remains in the post.

I think on a Poch thread its important to note that this is talking about Zidane.

Just saying as reading it I felt very confused.

You're correct, I was just (trying) to give some context to point out that that ZZ's decision to resign wasn't an "in the moment" thing. have edited it. appreciate the heads-up (y)

Plus Modric, Isco, Asensio, Varane... ...until Levy decides he's satisfied.

Entirely get why Poch would want to go, it's Real Madrid, and there's a lotta good young players to work with, but surely they want someone with a history of winning things? It's the most instant success job in football.

Wouldn't be surprised if Conte got it tbh.

It’s come from one of the professional Spurs haters in matt hughes too. Someone else has helped him write it though.

One thing to mention is that this season we saw how annoyed Poch got when he thought us fans were complaining about his management. He didn’t like it at all and I actually thought he was being quite prescious about it.

Now imagine that times a thousand every day and that’s even when you win. That is Real Madrid fans. I think the job is too big for him at the moment. He wouldn’t be good with the criticism.

Trouble is, when you look through the Madrid managers of the last 20 years there are a lot of strange appointments. They don’t always appoint the man best for the job. Well, not every time.
