Probably because Ashton hasn’t written it, it’s not about us

That would be a superb headline if the story was anything to do with arctic monkeys or a floor

As it is some prick at the sun has realised Zidane and dance are a half-rhyme and found the first opportunity to stick it in even though it makes no sense

Beyond cringey

My view is that he was on a list but they now know he is not currently available. He has invested too much in us to leave now. Top players will feel the same. We are a club on the up with enough history to believe it will stick. Be surprised if he were to leave.

While I would enjoy Klopp leaving Liverpool, he is the wrong manager for them yet again. He doesn't, and has never won much, and does well with players who are eager to run for him, be inspired by him. Not gonna work in Madrid. Seriously they should get Conte or Low. Conte because he has shown the ability to quickly get the most out of players without reinventing the wheel, or Low because of his high level experience managing big names and playing nice possession based football. Not someone who will go in there and shake the club to the core.

I just don’t see Poch, at the moment, being a fit in the short term culture at Real Madrid, he must know that by going there he could be out of a job by Christmas, if things go really badly.

Also from Madrid’s point of view, Poch has created superstars but he’s never really inherited them, there must be question marks as to the way he’d be received by Ramos, Ronaldo and co?

I think he’ll stay here.

Next Madrid manager is a poisoned chalice IMO... Ronaldo clearly unhappy, Bale leaving, Ramos, Benzema, Modric aging and need to begin to be phased out, and the younger generation doesn't seem to cut it. And instant success will still be expected. TBH they don't need a great manager, they need an axe man for a year or so and then someone to rebuild (with a pile of cash of course).
They should just get an old head in and just plan to make their big moves next summer.

Yeah but wasn't it common knowledge that playing for Real Madrid was a boyhood dream for Bale? Can't say that I was surprised that he wanted to go. Not saying that Poch isn't ambitious but I am not sure that Bale and Poch merit a comparison.

I agree the thing is there are a lot of players out there that would dream of playing for RM, the manager side I'm not so sure. yes they are the biggest club in the world, but surely the managers job is the hardest which means your never know if your staying or going.

Poch has been working a project with us, and I'm sure he will definitely want to carry that project into the new stadium, but he also seems a very genuine guy, and as long as he is happy, he will stay (going by what I read in his book).

I honestly believe if Levy stands by him, and gives him the backing he deserves, he will stand by the club, until the time comes when Levy doesn't back him at all, or Levy sacks him.

For what it’s worth, I think he’ll stay. It sure does hammer home the fact that he won’t be around forever, though, doesn’t it.

Considering all of things Poch talks about in his book regarding beliefs and values, he'd best not turn up to promote it tomorrow if he's planning on leaving less than a month after signing a new contract, it would be beyond contradictory otherwise

I think that any manager would want to manage Madrid once - and they'll surely go in with eyes open. As though it weren't obvious enough, Zidane's won 3 CLs in 28 months or something, and was still seen as vulnerable due to their not winning La Liga (or even really challenging this year). If nothing less than perfection is good enough, then the only way to 'succeed' is to take the big payoff and pretty much have your pick of jobs in the aftermath.

Real Madrid, the most glamorous club in the world, is the summer job you take so you can spend your gap year travelling.

As for Pochettino, I think he's much too invested in Spurs at this point. 3 or 4 years time when he's won the title or CL with us? Maybe then - but by then we'll be in an even better position.

Poch would be an awful choice for Madrid. Imagine how there players will react when Poch tells them to do laps round the training ground in his first session. I hope both parties take the logical conclusion that its not the right move at this time and we move on super quick.
Ramos looking at Poch and thinking i have 4 CL medals and you want me to do laps. :finger::finger::finger:

Worried, how many people turn down Real Madrid?

It's like turning down the hottest girl at school.

I did that when I was 13 and starting a new school. later found out it was the safest thing I've ever done as her boyfriend was a right nasty bastard:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I agree.

Poch is 4 years into a project at Spurs, arguably now one of the top 10 jobs in football (based on squad, finances and facilities) and is far from the end of that project. Even if you do well, no one lasts more than 3-4 years at the elite clubs. He is on to a good thing here, and has just signed a contract worth £40m. If it goes pear shaped at Madrid he can't get that back easily.

The only other managers across Europe's top clubs that probably have that job security are Klopp and Simeone, and that's because they helped get them/return them there.

No need to jump to Madrid right now, the opportunity would probably come up again in future regardless (unfortunately)...

Madrid aren't as trigger happy as they were in the 2000s. Mourinho, Ancelotti and Zidane all got three seasons. I'll take the positive ITK news today for now and hope for a clear statement from MP tomorrow.

Balague on Poch, who being quite close to him i worth a listen 9 minutes in. Particularly as they are doing an event tomorrow.

Thinks that he will probably stay, that its not the right moment for him to leave and Real Madrid will always be there. He says Perez really wants him so will really push so you never know what might happen, but likely he will stay at spurs.
