No point getting indignant - we will definitely sell them Toby. We’ll paint it as following Poch’s orders but the reality is, we’re bottom feeders that have somehow overachieved for a few years.

If we aren’t relegated next season, I’ll donate £50 to SC.
In real terms, that’s an impressively expensive joke

Anyone else think that selling tony abroad for say 40m or so and losing circa 15m the 55m Man U want to offer validates the itk/ qualifies as ‘backing’ Poch? To me it does by unambiguously conveying the message that we won’t be bullied by rivals ( challenging the perceived wisdom that we will always have to fold to financial pragmatism) anymore to the entire league and to our squad which is worth more than the money ‘lost’ here in setting a marker for this clubs future ambitions?

I’m not sure there’s a buyer abroad willing to splash 40 mill on him

Is your username the technical term for one of Levy's last minute deals?

Selling him for £10m less aboard I can stomach so long a son it means we invest that on his replacement and don't just rely on Foyth & Carter-Vickers to make up the defensive numbers before Jan & Davinson

Putting a positive spin on it. We're only selling him because we don't want him. If what happened with him, had never happened, United wouldn't be getting anywhere near him.

Although to be fair we only want to sell him because he wanted a huge payrise or a move elsewhere and burnt bridges with Levy/Poch. Utd aren't exactly getting a cast off!

So maybe the Martial interest has dropped due to us closing in on another deal for a target in a similar area such as Pulisic?

Can't see that being the case. Hercs comments didn't come across like we were the ones who backed out and certainly not because we had made headway with another target

I hope you're right though

This window is really quite simple, people are just reading the conflicting ITK tea leaves wrong. We wanted Martial and Zaha. Just like we did last summer. And the summer before that one. Levy and Lewis would not put up the cash to buy either player when they were available previously, now their current teams do not want to sell to us and, at best, we'd have to pay some kind of extortionate fee for Zaha, which won't happen either.

So, in the coming two weeks, we will be linked, as ITK has suggested all summer, with purportedly cheaper "alternatives" from abroad, like Leon Bailey and Christian Pulisic. Those deals will also not happen either, as we will find out at the end of the month, because it simply does not benefit Leverkeusen or Dortmund to sell a player like that for the type of 45M 'record' fee that Levy and Lewis would want to pay right now, when they could easily be worth double that next summer, just like Zaha and Martial previously.

So, in the final week of the transfer window, we will complete deals with teams that have been relegated or are in financial trouble, players who have been left out of squads, or with players that have concrete release clauses forcing their teams' hands, like we have always done. I would expect the incomings to be a similar list to Andre Gomes, Jack Grealish, Jay Rodriguez, and perhaps Ben Pavard, for a total value for those four players of about 120-130M, with another 80-90M incoming from the sale of Toby and Llorente, N'Koudou and maybe Dembele, Sissoko and Janssen.

If you were expecting anything different because you thought the ITK that Poch would be "backed" with "150M" meant some set of revolutionary changes at the club, well...

sorry if anyone's already worked out that Dembele should be on the out list, instead of Rose?

Or not as cut and dried as that?

Based on the ITK from Herc, Rebrab and AliZ, it sounds like Gomes and Barrios (two most frequently linked to midfielders) as well as Martial are no longer on the cards. Rebrab mentioned that CM would be an area that comes up in the next few days, so maybe the funds have been redirected from Martial to a slightly more upmarket CM. The other possibility based on links is that we'll get Zaha as an alternative to Martial, and then stick with a slightly cheaper CM. Or we're signing nobody ?

You are most probably right, but we did start the season by doubling the club record salary for our best paid player and coach, so some things have changed at least.

We tried but we just couldn't get this one over the line, lessons have been learned and we will move early next window. Poch accepts this and doesn't want to upset the balance of the squad with short term signings, would rather work with the talent coming through.
