Based on today's info and everything that has gone down so far this window, I find it very hard to believe that Pochettino is going to get the things he very publically asked for in the next two and a half weeks. This was the summer to add the three world-class players to our carefully cultivated squad that was push us the final yard to compete with City and United this season. Really can't see that kind of player signing in the next three weeks, while Liverpool, City and United are splashing the cash and getting further away. If this window plays out the way it's looking highly likely to - second-tier opportunistic signings at the death of the window then the long goodbye to Poch begins here.

Utd have signed Fred and tied up a contract extension for fellaini. City have signed Mahrez to compete with the rest of their forwards. Rebrab seems a bit more confident so I'm happy to wait and see how the next 3 weeks pans out

This window is really quite simple, people are just reading the conflicting ITK tea leaves wrong. We wanted Martial and Zaha. Just like we did last summer. And the summer before that one. Levy and Lewis would not put up the cash to buy either player when they were available previously, now their current teams do not want to sell to us and, at best, we'd have to pay some kind of extortionate fee for Zaha, which won't happen either.

So, in the coming two weeks, we will be linked, as ITK has suggested all summer, with purportedly cheaper "alternatives" from abroad, like Leon Bailey and Christian Pulisic. Those deals will also not happen either, as we will find out at the end of the month, because it simply does not benefit Leverkeusen or Dortmund to sell a player like that for the type of 45M 'record' fee that Levy and Lewis would want to pay right now, when they could easily be worth double that next summer, just like Zaha and Martial previously.

So, in the final week of the transfer window, we will complete deals with teams that have been relegated or are in financial trouble, players who have been left out of squads, or with players that have concrete release clauses forcing their teams' hands, like we have always done. I would expect the incomings to be a similar list to Andre Gomes, Jack Grealish, Jay Rodriguez, and perhaps Ben Pavard, for a total value for those four players of about 120-130M, with another 80-90M incoming from the sale of Toby and Llorente, N'Koudou and maybe Dembele, Sissoko and Janssen.

If you were expecting anything different because you thought the ITK that Poch would be "backed" with "150M" meant some set of revolutionary changes at the club, well...

Pulisic is going to be cheaper? You're a funny man.

Although to be fair we only want to sell him because he wanted a huge payrise or a move elsewhere and burnt bridges with Levy/Poch. Utd aren't exactly getting a cast off!
Going by yesterdays(?) ITK, it's a lot more serious than just a pay rise/disrespecting Poch.

As I always insinuated, Danny Rose will be here. And he really does want to be here. Another reason, to replace him would be too expensive, and to sell him at the price we would get, opposed to what we would want, would be suicidal.
A fit Rose and Ben Davies is quality for the lb/ lwb position for a few years. I’m really happy with that

Either way it's because he acted like a dick. Then he still gets what he wants, and we have to sell a class player to a rival. Who's really getting punished here?

To be fair all the ITK was that Matial was a long shot from the beginning. No one said it was very close...
HY said it was done, think Herc said it was one of the signings he said we did in Jan and he has visited the ground undercover and the training ground
must have been quite close

He didn't actually say it was done. He said he THINKS he is finally coming or words to that effect. Shame we couldn't get him but let's see what the alternatives are before we wet the bed.

And the pendulum swings towards depression in this crazy asylum......!

Thanks to all the ITK for your updates chaps, I hope more than anything else that Poch doesn't become disillusioned by it all.

I don't necessarily disagree with the overall point that it isn't realistic to assume we're going to do top business in just a few weeks. However, I do feel that one has to take a lot of things into consideration.

You say that the likes of Liverpool, United and City are "splashing the cash", but that's because they can afford to. For a start they haven't been investing huge amounts in a new stadium. Then there's the simple fact of the window not only being short but also the World Cup but also it being harder to sign top talent, especially if players were at the tournament. The clubs you mentioned, in order to get new players in, are paying out on ridiculously over inflated deals. Look how much Liverpool just wedged out for a keeper FFS! About £70m I think it is! For this reason alone I think the forthcoming winter window will be busier than usual for a lot of clubs who can't afford to splash silly money.

I would like to see some key signings, but people need to remember who Levy is. He is not going to change overnight. As it is he has taken, what for him, is a bold step this window in breaking the wage structure (and likely not just for Kane but players like Eriksen as well and the manager). While huge amounts of money are being spent on the stadium, that in of itself is unusual. So is it any wonder he otherwise is defaulting to his usual tactic of out before in and the cheapest deal possible? This is still Levy after all. If he hasn't changed in 17 years he's not likely to start now. So with that AND the difficulties of this window mentioned above, it really baffles me that just because Poch made a statement about being brave it means a big money signing or two will walk in two weeks after the end of the season. I'm sure Poch isn't stupid and knows the difficulties this window presents. And do you know what? It's all very well for Poch to talk of being brave, but he's signed a new contract since then, he knows the stadium is a huge undertaking and he knows part of his remit is to develop potential talent rather than buying ready made stars for over the top prices.

So I personally I don't see the latest ITK as Levy's failure. I see it, frankly, as the most likely way this window was going to play out and had we heard anything else I would have been surprised.

Martial is literally the only player we've been decently linked with that I've been impressed with.

Absolute farce.

Similar to us and Toby, though right? I'm sure if United had offered the £70m odd we were after he'd be their player already.

that would be because Toby is FOR SALE!!!!!!! at 1st we heard Moaninho wasn't bothered about Martial, but has since changed his tune (till Martial has 1 real bad game)
