Wondered how long before Cook would come on the radar. If you are talking potential of HG players I think he looks the best HG prospect at the moment.

Can't say I'm too surprised by the onomah news. He's never shown a glimpse of anything special in the many appearances he made in the First team IMO. To me he has never looked like the type to really impose himself enough

But no where near as much as our coaching staff.

Not every decision made is purely down to ability and performance on the pitch.
The same coaching staff who deemed it necessary to spunk £30m on Sissoko rather than playing and developing a kid who's potentially a real star?

Let's not pretend our coaching staff are infallible here - certainly when it comes to promoting youth.

I'm not saying they are infallible.

Name me one we have released/sold off in the last ten years that has gone on to prove them wrong though. In fact go back further if you like who was the last youngster we moved on that went on to be a star.

was this posted? from late last night
ali z on toby: Only wants to stay as nobody wants to pay him what he thinks his worth, in addition he needs a change of attitude if he does stay as he acted very disrespectful to Poch, not over finances but can't/won't reveal unless he goes. He did not act professionally and if it was me there would be no way back but I am not Poch.
Hmm I wonder what it was .... maybe he sent Poch a tape of him getting mugged off by Owen for THAT goal ?

You’re right- you have to back to Souness and he went of his own accord!

Both have far more potential than winks...with Edwards it seems to be attitude and numerous other more personal issues. With Josh it's being played out of position every single time he plays a senior game of football. He performs so well at CM for the England youth team, including at the world cup, but never gets a game there at senior level. It's just mismanagement imo. I'd be pissed off if we sold him to villa as part of the Grealish deal. Josh is by far the more talented footballer, especially at CM.

with Edwards he has had advice and not adhered to it, perhaps the mini Messi comment went to his head, and started to feel he was a billy big bollocks instead of working hard enough.

with Josh playing in CM in an under 21 WC is nowhere near the same as a PL match. I'm sure Poch would of tried him there in practice matches, and he failed to step up (opinion).

At the moment we have hit the heights of being a top 3 club for 3 consecutive years, and are now in the process of giving out new contracts. to win even a domestic cup we need a strong squad and also need fully committed players that can step up if we need to rotate, and if Poch feels both are not ready to take that step, then the club needs to make sacrifices.

I'd wager Windy has seen him play shed loads more than you Eddie
With the greatest of respects to Windy, the man said that Carroll would’ve been the same level as Eriksen (when we bought Eriksen) if Carroll was at Ajax. There is a reason he is a fan and not part of any clubs decision making in youth football.

he is you know!

Onomah is one of the best talents our Youth set up has produced. Unfortunately , he hasn't been given the chance to play in his natural position, neither by Poch or at Villa.

If Onomah is getting sold, something has changed since I think it was Herc who said pre world cup, that he was coming back and would be in contention for a squad place or maybe that was more opinion... can't remember!

At least the conversation appears to be switching to CM. Earlier in the window I was worried all we would do is sell and replace Toby and sign a bunch of AMs.

Stars I get your point but there are plenty of serviceable players the past few years who could’ve done the same job as the punts like N’Jie, N’Koudou, Llorente etc who ended up costing the club what £40m? Veljkovic, Berchiche, Falque all did relatively well once departing. Townsend arguably would’ve done a better job than the two N’s.

I don’t think anyone was singing from the rooftops saying O’Shea, Richardson, Brown etc were brilliant when they were supplementing the United side under Fergie but they saved the club money and maintained the club ethos in the side/squad.

So we're trying to win the league but looking at the likes of Cook and Grealish. Cool. I'm happy with us not challenging and love the exciting team but don't tell us we're looking at challenging.
