Most ITK has been saying we're at least looking at them. Hell we looked at them last year in Barkley & Andre Gomes.

I doubt it. He seems to be a DM/CB like Dier. Out and out defensive mid. Arsenal are linked.

I hope your right and I had assumed it would be as you say, but with each day going by I just feel more and more signs of previous windows are popping up. We will never pay the money to get big players over the line in short amounts of time so the later things are left the less likely we will bring in someine of real ability who isn't Martial. I just really hope we having everything set up and just need to fire, but JJs tweet saying the window is tricky does not fill me with confidence. Also it's a Monday and I'm not in a good mood so 100% got my moany pessimist cap on.

Add another 10 mil and maybe the day prior to deadline day (so they can get a replacement) and your right, I could see this happening.

Well, I did say starting CM. The ITK on anyone approaching a legit Dembele replacement has been thin at best.

Certainly not the torrent of ITK we’ve heard on various Wide Forward/Attacking Mids. This suggests the club’s priority isn’t CM.

How much have you watched him?

I can't claim to be 100% accurate as i've only watched him so much, but he's been poor the majority of the time I've seen him and in a team that he should be able to somewhat shine. I remember him being directly responsible for Saints conceding a few goals at vital times last season too.

Really hope we steer clear.

My opinion was that Poch thought Barkley & Andre Gomes were Dembele replacements last summer. We were very clearly interested in Ndombele but that deal was never going to happen. They're definitely keeping this deal quiet... Or so my wishful heart hopes at least.

Maybe 7-8 games total between his time at Juve and Saints, can't claim to be an expert. I just know his physical profile and attributes fit Poch's idea of powerhouse CM. I think if we were to sign him, it would be similar to when we signed Wanyama and everyone come out claiming that he get a red card every 3 games or so but instead we'll get a solid CM/box to box mid.

That 'depends on your expectations' seems pretty worrying. Expectations is to get 3 in as per ITK. Hope is that one of Martial/Zaha is gettable.

What is deemed as an unrealistic expectation? Most fans were excited for Jack Grealish!

Last window was pretty decent really, especially on paper at the time. Club record deal, a top rb replacement from at top club and a experience Kane backup coming off a 15 goal season in the PL (as well as a reserve GK and a promising teenage CB).

Has there ever been any ITK linking us to Kovacic? Or is this thread filled by hope and putting 2 and 2 together? (Not being a knob just feel I have missed something on this front)

I'm not convinced personally! Wanyama at least showed he was an effective and solid DM despite his discipline record. I haven't seen anything of Lemina that makes him seem appealing.

I liked what we did last summer, but it was what we didn't do at winger and midfield that was disappointing. Thankfully we corrected it a bit with Lucas in the winter. But we still knew we needed midfield passing reinforcements last summer. I just don't see how all the sudden they could just think otherwise.

The funny thing is, as good as Martial would be, just him isn't even getting us what we really need. But like said, with 9 days left, it's really really hard to imagine us getting 2/3 players in. Just the one seems a stretch right now.

Weren't the 3 in supposed to be 2 Home Grown and one from abroad? With Grealish and Zaha apparently not happening I really have no idea who the 2 HG are likely to be. I think that bit of ITK has probably sunk without trace like the rest of it. I'm sure the ITK is given in good faith but there seems no real ambition from the club to keep up the momentum and proposed deals just don't happen.

No, I think the fact that we haven't been seriously linked to one of any note either in the press or by 'itk' is fairly telling. Would be majorly surprised myself if we signed a quality central midfielder at this stage and that's a crying shame for this squad.
