We were never ever going to pay the money for Zaha and United were never selling us Martial. This has been so obvious this entire window.
It’s like we purposely go after players we know we can’t or won’t get. It’s laughable. This complete clusterfuck of a transfer window has sunk to new depths even for Levy. What top team doesn’t go out and improve their first team? In the last two seasons we’ve only added Wanyama and Sanchez that have actually improved us. Ambition? Lol. Levy clearly showing again why ambition to try and win trophies is not important but your money certainly is. This ain’t going to change.
As predicted weeks ago we won’t sign ONE player who’ll improve the first team. I’ve got to the point now where if we get Toby to sign a deal and go again with the same squad would actually be a result. Lol.
This is what this mess of a window has done.
Still got 7 days though to pull something out of the bag!!!???Or not...

Then we sell Toby abroad, there must be clubs interested in one of the worlds best cbs. I still clinge on to the hope of keeping him but if he is toxic, its better to take the financial hit selling him outside of England not strenghtening United. The fans will give Levy hell if he sells to United without getting Martial, a PR suicide.

Bear in mind that Toby has to agree to go to any club and he may hang it out here for a year or whatever it is, and then head to Utd. on the cheap anyway. It would have to be a very big club on a very big deal to tempt him IMO.

It still baffles me that in the world of football, we haven't been able to find any players that would improve our first 11.

We can. Hence why we have dozens of threads on different players. We obviously can identify players. We've been told, repeatedly, that we need to make space for them first. We are already multiple players over the limit for European registration.

They must really fear us! They are unwilling to let us have one of their fringe players that they don't rate in return for one of the best centre backs in the world - a position they are desperate for.
All my Utd supporting mates see us as their main competition at the moment.

One small problem. Utd don't want to sell to us

Cheers for the info, I’ve doubted all along that they will play ball, they want it all their own way.

If I were in charge I’d be now trying to offer Toby around Europe for around £30/35mill and insist on a large sell on fee. I’d then go and make solid moves for Kovacic and Zaha and sort this bloody mess out.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

People bandy figures around like it'e monopoly money, and in the world of football in many ways it is. Hyper inflation shows no signs of bursting the bubble. However, in the real world, the one where we're building the stadium, 20m here and there goes a bloody long way and you don't chuck it away on a whim. I know it's been said that the stadium finances have no bearing on the football side of things but i don't think that's how a businessman like Levy operates. If he can find a way to service the debt quicker and easier, he'll weigh that up against player prices increasing by millions every time he picks up the phone.
Balancing act innit. Missing out on CL group stages would also have a fair impact financially.

Frankly, Toby out with no Martial (or Zaha) and the current speculated business (Grealish in maybe, Dembele out) is an absolute shitshow. I don't think the club would get away with that at all.

Course they will. They got away with selling keane and berbatov in the same window. They really aren’t that bothered what we think.

as I replied elsewhere, I am aware we have little power as fans, its Poch and our ambitious set of players that may judge.

The thing that worries me i am sure they would of all asked and wanted reassurances when they signed the new contracts..... What if Levy does not deliver the sharks will circle

Who was it that said we had a week to sign him and if we didn’t do it in that time he’d go to Chelsea?

All the talk in the media is about him leaving to join Chelsea now. I'll be really disappointed if this turns out to be the case. Firstly he has huge potential but could also come in right away and strengthen our starting 11. Secondly this is a deal that seemed doable for us.

I wonder if people only believe the negative ITK we get. Anything positive and it, for the most part, gets disregarded.
