This is football, not business. If success in football was determined by business sense we’d have a trophy cabinet fit to burst at this point.
Money talks doesn't it? Or doesn't it apply here?

Football is a business. United have been very good at both for how long? We're still playing catch up both on and off the pitch.

We suffer 19 years of virtual trophy drought under Levy. Enough is enough
19 eh?

Grind your shitty fucking axe in another thread at least until 17:01 on Thursday ... Then have at it, if he doesn't do what we all want him to do.

Yes it is a blow losing such a player, breaking up that awesome defence from 2 seasons ago (walker, toby now gone - Rose to follow??) but equally he hardly played last year and 60m is good BUT we must reinvest it in more than just Grealish

We’ll always be playing catch-up if we continue to deal on their terms for the players they want.

Please don’t make out that this is any kind of win for us. We clearly wanted Martial, but Utd knew they could get Toby without having to include him in the deal.

It’s almost as if they’ve realised that selling to your rivals is bad for business.

Back to square one - Ego in any business is your own worse enemy.

Have to find another thread if you want to go in circles with me, no one else is going to care about what we're talking about.

If the best you can do for a counter argument is to fall back on a cliche you’ve already used once, I think I’ll pass if it’s all the same.

If we had Toby against the likes of Juventus I think last season could have been even better. We missed him in the big games.
As opposed to when we had him int he team against lower league opposition in the FA Cup and he was all over the place?

I might be on my own, but I'm not really bothered by this.

We've known he was going and not wanted at spurs for a looong time now. He's going to a club that were already ultra defensive, and for money that *could* trigger us getting in a player that will strengthen us more than he will them.

He had hardly played any football and if I remember half our team was all over the place against lower league opposition. We can try and gloss it all up bit like Walker leaving. It’s a good fee but end of the day United now have one of the best CB in the world on there books and we don’t. Simple

Think it’s more the principal of how it’s happening for me. Known Poch doesn’t want him and realistically we were always going to sell with out Martial so why couldn’t we of done it weeks ago and invested the money already

It’s all just very sad, after years of having a joke of a defence we finally managed to put together an amazing one in Walker, Toby, Jan and Rose. One of the best in Europe ffs. Only had two years with it and I doubt we’ll get two more out of Jan or Danny. Massive shame, and after this embarrassment of a window I fear for the rest of the side and Poch.

We have a better one in Vertonghen, and a potentially better one in Sanchez.

United will be stronger if Toby can get fit and avoid injury. But Vertonghen & Sanchez > Toby & ________

Toby joining Man U improves them because what they’ve got now is shite simple as that.
I’m gutted he’s going there one of about 5 clubs I don’t want him going to.

Quite plain to see he was done at Spurs so I dont care about him any more but so annoyed if we have done a deal with them but they refuse to do one with us.

60 mil is a lot for him. Good job Levy.

Now, hopefully Levy realizes that he needs to spend those money on quality instead of the lottery coupons that have failed us in the past few years. 60m won't get us a world beater, but it should be possible to get one decent player that has the quality to challenge for a starting position. Please don't take a chance on 2-3 players who might someday be good enough, even though the potential financial upside is much larger.
