I thought I read a while ago it was we had to sell first, so guessing as we’ve sold absolutely no one that’s who we’ll buy?

Looks ominous, igi rarely if ever wrong and no other itk hearing anything since to contradict igi itk, so much for the 150 million War chest, being brave etc and yet still there is time for baldy to turn it around, got to think he has to really give it a go if he wants to hold on to our best manager in decades.

It’s not that we’d do a better job.

It’s that every other Premier League club has managed to do a better job thus far, many of them far less attractive prospects to potential signings than us.

This is it really. We certainly don't think we could do a better job than Levy ourselves, but we expect Levy to be doing better than this. You do not need to 'be able to do a better job yourself' than someone at something to be able to offer valid critical insight. It's the same mistakes repeated again and again. Some will disagree and claim that we have to wait until the end of the window to make the great deals (of which there have been very few). But he has two days to turn it around. So I will shush until then.

We're at 19 pages on today's thread now with negligible ITK and majority panicing/whining. For the love of god please can we all chill out and wait till we hear some solid news? There's really nothing more to be said (in this thread at least) until then.

For the £100K a week Levy pays himself we have every right to demand better.

Exactly. I agree that we should hold off on pitch forks but it’s frustrating when the “you couldn’t do any better” line comes out. If that’s the case then there would be a very narrow field that I could comment on. I wouldn't be allowed to say that Karius is shite or criticise Boris Johnson which would make me sad.

That's pretty similar. Of course stuff can change, but he said this window, which goes beyond the usual what's coming up next stuff he posts. If anything it is more concerning that his source would express a view on that, esp this close to the end.
Actually they are pretty much opposites. I think you are confusing infer with imply.

I agree that for igi it wasn’t the usual type of post, and accept that we probably won’t get anything announced today, but I felt it worth giving people the non-wrist slitting interpretation of his post as this place was unbearable in its’ over the top aggression and angst.

In reply to Hertyids view on my synopsis.... I wasn't saying we didn't have cash to spend, or that Levy was refusing to spend it. From what I have heard we were not seriously in for him this window.

It feels like a scooby doo show in here. Levy is gonna get caught at the end and they are gonna pull his mask off to reveal Arsene Wenger.

alternative ending its still Levy. he just likes wearing masks of himself.

So Levy is a numbers guy, and there is a prevailing thought that the transfer market is in a bubble, inspired in large part by the massive Neymar sale.

This is my theory, so take it with a big salt mine of salt. Many are trying to determine if this is the new normal, or just a volatile moment in the market.

While I agree caution is necessary, lets remember that a "numbers guy" goes on more than gut feeling. Every other number in world football has been on the rise as well. We're building a stadium that would more than double our matchday revenue (based solely on attendance numbers). Our kit deal went from £10m a year to £30m a year. 10 years ago Mansion was paying just £8m a year to be our shirt sponsor, whereas AIA pays in excess of £16m. Add in the monster TV deal, worldwide merchandising, and a host of other marketing opportunities; and you could easily reach a conclusion that everything in football has doubled, if not tripled in the last 5-10 years.

Neymar is an outlier fueled by shady middle eastern politics, but it's not unrealistic to think Zaha is easily £70m when Lamela was £30m in 2013. This is the new normal.

You don’t have the right to demand anything though. Your unimportant, uninformed, premature opinions entitle you to the square root of fuck all.

But by all means prattle on, spam the thread to hell and get banned two days before deadline day

It feels like complete and utter negligence to not strengthen the CM department this summer.

This was supposed to be a statement summer going in to the new stadium and instead there’s a bit of a poisonous atmosphere.

I'm pretty sure you could still criticise Bojo mate

Is anybody actually surprised? Quite how Levy expected to do 3-4 deals in the last week, especially when other European clubs are at a massive advantage is either incredibly stupid or incredibly arrogant
