argh so disappointing

I know it has been gone over many times, but I still cannot get my head around the fact that electrics and safety systems weren't tested bit by bit as they were being installed...right this sector is working onto the next one etc etc...how can you discover it's all wrong only right at the end. It just does not add up

Thats not the way it works

Good News - Last nights result
Bad News - More Delays
Not exactly. I imagine we found out yesterday or Monday but because it was bad news we left it until after the game. They dont want to announce bad news before the game to bring the mood down ahead of kick off. If it was good news they probably would have announced it before the game. They would have announced this news regardless of the result.

The BBC suggests that police and safety groups would balk at having the NLD as the first game, which makes sense.

And although To Dare is indeed to Do, @danielneeds , there’s a bit too much of a dare in that for me! :D

If we have had 2 test events with 20k and 40k and they went smoothly why would hosting the NLD as the first game at WHL pose any great threat or more problems than the old NLD at the old ground?

It's clearly all guess work from here when the stadium will actually open, although we can be pretty certain it won't be the Arsenal match. If the stadium is ready by March and we are in the quarter finals of the F.A. cup and the Champions League then we will have at least 6 and at most 8 home matches left to play:

-16th March: Crystal Palace/ FA cup weekend quarter finals
-6th April: Brighton
-9th April Champions League Q 1st Leg
-13th April: Huddersfield
-16th April Champions League Q 2nd Leg
- 27th April: West Ham
-30th April Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg
- 7th May Champions League Semi-Final 2nd Leg
-12th May: Everton

I haven't been able to get to Wembley this season

...

Was at the game last night

Huh?

Just kidding, old chap. Knew what you meant

I miss WHL

Same here. Was watching an old highlights show the other day and God it made me remember how much I loved that place. I nearly got a bit teary. I might take down the seat I purchased <ahem> at the final match and stroke it a little until the pain goes away. Or, y’know, the new stadium opens...

I understand that, was just a bit of sarcasm as they delay announcements have all come after a good result or a contract announcement and everyone knew it would happen first thing this morning

Livestream 4 hasn't changed since they started streaming it.

Can't be bothered commenting on the other news.

I would imagine the thinking is that it’s an unknown quantity.

Two test events may not be enough for them to get a proper handle on what the environment would be like around the stadium. Crowd movement, the environments after a win, a loss, or a draw. The day and time of the match. That’s just a few of the factors that spring to mind that the police won’t know for some time after the new stadium opens.

I would imagine that the heightened tension of an NLD would be one variable too many and a potentially explosive one. I would imagine that would be the thinking and it does make sense.

I know people will disagree but I'm starting to think they'd be better off just put it off until next season now. As much as it's frustrating that we're still at Wembley, I think the constant will they/won't they is annoying people even more. It's daft if we just move in for 2 or 3 games at the end of the year after all this. Would rather we open it in style next year when everything is 100% complete than rush to get some workaround/compromise thing up in time for us to play not even a handful of games at the end of the season with no proper opening or anything. Also if we're by some miracle in the title race still I'm not sure moving stadiums right at the last second is the best idea anyway because it'll take a few games for the players to get used to it.

Whilst I dont need the money back to survive, I am more annoyed at the fact they took our money so quickly without batting an eye lid but returning our money through a drip feed process is arduous.

Surely they should have just given back our cash and then once an opening date is set they just let us pay per game as ST holders then for next season we pay for the entire season.

Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth... how they handled that element of the ticketing.

I dont mind waiting till next season however, id rather move into a 100% completed stadium than a 80% completed stadium.

spot on mate!

I have £1800 invested in 3 STs since May!!

It's all very well people that come on here saying all is fine and dandy.....but I bet they have no cash invested in STs....

The thought that it couldnt be a NLD as the opening fixture is laughable imo

There will still only be 3000 scum supporters. They will still come from exactly the same routes as they have done ever since they moved from Woolwich!! And after the game we can keep them in the ground for an hour or 2. Sorted

Also being the first game for all the scum supporters to visit the NWHL they will all want to come, meaning less numpties (not that they have many anyway)

Any trouble close to the ground is handbags these days...

A NLD would be a perfect and fitting opening fixture. Plus hopefully we'd absolutely smash em

Absolutely spot on.

Levy’s ruining this club, what with this pathetic shiney new stadium (that incidentally will not be built - he’s conning you!) and the ‘so called’ world class training facilities, pffft, how is that going to help us grow talent for the future.... yep, worse thing to happen to this club.

As for the delays, the nah-sayers on here are right. In all the photos and live-cams have you EVER seen the board doning hard hats and holding trowels? No? Thought not. They are a disgrace to the badge. We would have moved in already, we’re it not for their bone-idleness.

I haven't been able to get to Wembley this season, partly because it's a pain in the arse and an absolute soul drain but also partly down to...no it's basically just that.

Was at the game last night and my word Wembley is even worse than I remember! A semi final against Chelsea, and people were far too busy eating pizza and sipping craft ale/gin to get up for the game.

I miss WHL

you'll soon find out that's the state of modern football than just Wembley....

I really feel for some of the local businesses in Tottenham. Some of the pubs and local food outlets really relied upon the match day trade. I believe the Bill Nicholson and the Pride of Tottenham have already closed down, and I'm sure some of the smaller chip shops / takeaways must have had to use all of their savings to keep trading for the year when we were away, the longer this goes on then the more likely they are to go under. I remember reading about a pub next to the old Boleyn Ground that apparently used to need bouncers outside on matchdays as they'd get 2,000 people in, now they're lucky if they get 30 - at least the savvier business owners in that part of town would have realised the club wasn't coming back and that it would have been a good time to sell the property for something else - those in Tottenham will have been encouraged to try and hold out as they would have thought it was only temporary but there's still no light at the end of the tunnel. Who knows what the High Street is going to look like when we finally move in.

They're not a small local business and they are sponsoring other things with us, but eToro took out a sponsorship of the turnstiles at Seven Sisters station as they assumed it would be packed full of travelling fans every week - they must be furious that it's only local commuters seeing it as I bet that wasn't cheap.
