Without owners who have a real ambition to achieve things on the pitch, I fear we potentially have another decade of nearly but nothing ahead of us. No chairman of a club like ours who genuinely lusted for glory could justify the state of our squad. I realise that money spent on transfers does not always equate to success, but money spent on wages has a real correlation; until we recognise this, we will rarely be able to attract the world class players that are needed to truly challenge. I think Poch is an excellent manager but also feel he has a stubbornness that can hinder us sometimes. I blame our chairman however, for the fact we have too many players who are clearly not good enough lingering on our wage bill and consequently a conundrum regarding our squad make-up.

I think Eriksen will leave in the summer and, on current form, the way in which we replace him will be far from adequate. I know you should be careful what you wish for, but I am leaning more and more to hoping that if a sale of the club (once the stadium is finally finished) is Enic's end game, I'd be pretty chuffed to see someone with a real ambition to end our trophy drought take the reins. I thank Enic for the infrastructure, but I feel they will always put monetary gain before glory; and my god, do I want glory.

Our failure to buy a proper backup for Kane has always been a massive risk.

Llorente is too static and too slow for our style of play, and Poch clearly isn't one for changing the way we play to better suit his abilities.

Bar 4/5 top players our squad is loaded with mid table at best players and academy players who aren’t up to the level. Embarrassed by that today. Another no show this year in a cup. We’d have only lost the semi anyway so maybe best to get dumped out early. Porch and the board have a lot to answer for, our squad is not up to it. ANY STRIKER would be better than llorente- but poch obviously thinks not. Any right back would be an improvement on Trippier- but poch obviously thinks not. 2 stubborn men running/managing our club. Success as far away as ever (winning something).

I never thought I would say this, but here goes, fuckoff Lewis, take the bald midget with ya and sell us to someone who ACTUALLY wants the club to win fucking TROPHIES!!!!
Here is the reality check - Spurs are so expensive now - £2B is about right - that nobody can afford to buy the team, and then invest even further in bringing in top players.

It feels like we only just started to get the train rolling then all of sudden have hit a brick wall. Obviously the injuries have played a huge part in that but you only have to look at the players in reserve to see that our recruitment has been an utter shambles the last 3 years.

I want to trust in the youth and I commend Poch for putting Skipp, KWP and Winks in, it's great. But you can't be so negligent to think that youth alone will work, we need some additions who can inspire the squad and can step up in times like this.

Where was his bad defensive mistake today that cost us, seeing as you're taking the time to criticise?
I thought he was genuinely poor defensively, like always. You can play badly without making a critical error. Do you really think he's a good defender?

ENIC have been amazing for us but the only way I can see us becoming a top European side is with a takeover and massive investment

It's disgraceful the way he's getting thrown under the bus. We all know what the problem is and it ain't the players (especially an 18 yo kid) or Poch.

Hmm. I think like most things it's definitely a combination. The players have to take some of the blame, several just did not put in an acceptable performance and haven't for a little while now. That obviously wasn't our strongest team but it should still have been able to cope with a heavily weakened Palace side. And many here predicted we'd struggle when Poch named a team completely lacking in creativity despite Lamela, Eriksen and Winks all being available. Longer term he could probably also have done more in terms of regular small rotations rather than sudden wholesale changes to help keep players fit, and resist rushing them back from injury or trying to avoid surgery that turns out to be necessary - I do think he can sometimes be a little short-termist.

That's not to take anything away from the failings of the club's hierarchy, but nobody has covered themselves in glory here.

I was actually the opposite - really gutted to go out in a semi-final, but oddly calm about losing today. Perhaps we were so comically bad today, that it took the sting out.

Yeah agreed I literally spent the game laughing and taking the piss out of us. Watching it with my family - all Spurs - and we’ve seen enough shit over the decades that we don’t really GaF anymore.

Just got in and watched the game as it was recorded. As you can tell if you do the maths, I fast forwarded most of it. Only watched the first half. As soon as I saw the line up I knew we were out.

There was absolutely no goals in the team. Embarrassing performance. Our squad depth is abysmal.

The wheels have well and truly come off. Let’s be honest, it’s even fortunate we are still in the CL. All inter had to do was beat PSV at home and they bottled it. Otherside we would be out of all cups.

Absolutely no chance we beat Dortmund without Kane and Alli.

Our season points tally has totally glossed over our general dire performances this season. We have been very inconsistent and only fleetingly looked a top aide.

Look how many late goals we’ve had to rely on in the PL and CL even. It’s not the sign of a top side when you struggle to beat crap teams like Burnley and Fulham. Relying on last minute winners.

Really I don’t think our performances have merited our points tally at all. It’s been a strange season, we’ve lost to so many of our rivals at home. Out of both cups.

It’s just poor. I think we seriously will struggle for top 4 now.

I can’t believe we can find it so difficult to improve our squad. It’s filled with so much dross.

I feel like there will be many people getting bans from the ITK section of this forum tonight.
I bleed Tottenham and hate us losing even friendlies, but Poch made the right call today, with the way our squad is depleted what do we expect him. to do, prioritise the cup at this early stage or top 4?we are 7pts clear and with a great chance of getting CL football again which is vital moving into our new stadium both financially and prestigious with the naming rights of our new stadium and not to mention keeping the likes of Eriksen.
Yes i would love a cup run, but not at the expense of Top 4,and that's why Poch had no choice.

This is bang on.

I felt Poch picked the right personnel, largely speaking, but should of played four at the back.

Watford is going to be a tough game though. Think we'll beat Newcastle but Watford is definitely the tougher looking of the two games.

I hope Rose plays both.

Maybe Enics end game is approaching consistent CL and a shiny stadia in one of the worlds finest capitals ,ripe for a big money buyout.

Didn’t expect a good result today; disappointing, but I think we’re currently riding a negative wave. I truly believe the ‘project’ peaked earlier than expected and we’ve not been prepared financially/logistically for this sharp upward curve. My feelings are that in two/three years we’ll be there. 2nd year playing at Wembley; no summer squad investment and unfortunate injuries/Asian cup has halted our rhythm. We’ll be back.

And those that can may well be some fascist, anti-Semitic state investment company from the Middle East, which frankly is the moment for me that we're no longer Spurs and I will seriously just stop going.
