How many of our first 11 played today?

We’re missing at least 5 first choice players.

Problem is, we didn’t field the other 5 or 6. We went weaker still.

I get that people here fall in to two camps.

A) Top four, balance sheets, money, prestige ( yep, getting knocked out as soon as we face a good side in the knockout stages ) “attracting” players...yeah because that works!

B) Field strongest available team in domestic cups to maybe try and win one.

I’m camp B. I don’t crave a trophy, but it would be nice. I don’t crave top four, but given the choice I’d take an FA Cup win over top four virtually every season.

Just get me back to The Lane. That’s all I care about this season now.

The responsibility for today lies 100% at Pochs door, the team selection was wrong and we have people occupying squad positions that need replacing with quality

I suppose all we are going to hear now is Poch to manure from all the pundits.

I don’t think that’s going to be the case. I was hearing on the radio yesterday, pundits talking about why would you take Poch over Ole. Granted, it’s a bit far fetched, but United could quite easily go and win the FA Cup this season. They are chasing hard for top 4. Come May, it might seem ridiculous to get rid of Ole for Poch.

Here is the reality check - Spurs are so expensive now - £2B is about right - that nobody can afford to buy the team, and then invest even further in bringing in top players.

You may be right, if so what IS ENIC's MO then? Nothing makes any sense!!

Without owners who have a real ambition to achieve things on the pitch, I fear we potentially have another decade of nearly but nothing ahead of us. No chairman of a club like ours who genuinely lusted for glory could justify the state of our squad. I realise that money spent on transfers does not always equate to success, but money spent on wages has a real correlation; until we recognise this, we will rarely be able to attract the world class players that are needed to truly challenge. I think Poch is an excellent manager but also feel he has a stubbornness that can hinder us sometimes. I blame our chairman however, for the fact we have too many players who are clearly not good enough lingering on our wage bill and consequently a conundrum regarding our squad make-up.

I think Eriksen will leave in the summer and, on current form, the way in which we replace him will be far from adequate. I know you should be careful what you wish for, but I am leaning more and more to hoping that if a sale of the club (once the stadium is finally finished) is Enic's end game, I'd be pretty chuffed to see someone with a real ambition to end our trophy drought take the reins. I thank Enic for the infrastructure, but I feel they will always put monetary gain before glory; and my god, do I want glory.
Outstanding comments totally agree with everything you’ve stated. Wish I could of constructed a comment as good as yours. Hopefully the Levy Loverd will now see there end game like we have. Because if they don’t agree then MY GOD ITS NOT ABOUT THE GLORY FOR THEM,,LIKE IT IS FOR TRUE TOOTENHAM FANS LIKE US!!!!!

Offer MU, Chelsea or the scum the FA Cup or CL i know what they would choose..... Big clubs choose CL all day

I don't think they are really bothered, they have got good depth to fight on. However if they loose a lot to injuries then they may have to make a choice!

Didn’t expect a good result today; disappointing, but I think we’re currently riding a negative wave. I truly believe the ‘project’ peaked earlier than expected and we’ve not been prepared financially/logistically for this sharp upward curve. My feelings are that in two/three years we’ll be there. 2nd year playing at Wembley; no summer squad investment and unfortunate injuries/Asian cup has halted our rhythm. We’ll be back.
Hey stop talking sense, you will be in big trouble on here.

How'd you mean?
And, for good reason.

Levy will legitimately look at the situation and say - we have enough quality in the first team to make it through the season, and we have only 2 more cup games to deal with. Why overpay now?

He'll have a different excuse in the summer - but he is correct that signing any players now won't help the situation this season.

Nope.
Poch thinks the squad is good enough and wanted to prove it today.

It’s just blown up in his face.
Bingo!

I know this is just going over old ground as far as this window is concerned but it's 100% true. Poch is happy with the squad and really hasn't been pushing for incomings. He has his extremely optimistic list and is more than aware they were unlikely to be brought in. The thing with the ITK's on here, and the other forums at least is that it comes from various different sources, some pro Levy, some anti Levy, some that have zero interests in the club what so ever. Believe me we all talk behind the scenes and everyone is hearing pretty much exactly the same thing regarding this, and have been for some time. Some of you can bury your heads in the sand and continue to blame Levy(don't get me wrong he has form) but our lack of transfers both now and in the Summer are not down to him. He's for once doing what we have all been asking for, for the last decade and backing the manager. I know, easier to do when he doesn't have to spend any money, but there is money available should Poch want to bolster the squad.

I'm all for having faith in the youth but lets be honest it would be far easier to blood them with real quality around them, rather than having to chuck them all in together when we are injury plagued, and lacking confidence.

Not sure if this should have gone in here, or if some of it should have been posted at all tbh but I'm sick of hearing "this is all Levy's fault" and "poor old Poch having to work on a shoestring" when as things stand it couldn't be further from the truth.

I thought he was genuinely poor defensively, like always. You can play badly without making a critical error. Do you really think he's a good defender?

Obviously, I thought he had a decent game barring missing the penalty, which happens...no worse than any other player out there today.

But then again, you've been banging this drum for a while.
