This is the thing. I can't see how a ref could say something like that and get away with it. Moreover, I can't see Poch apologising for reacting to it. If I was a football manager and my team were mocked in that fashion, I wouldn't be shouting in his face, I'd be trying to deck the ****. And fuck apologising for it afterwards!

It can't be that, surely.

EDIT: Something else occurs to me: the Burnley game was the 12:30 kick off. Neither Liverpool nor Man City had even played at that point. For all Dean knew, they could both have lost their games that weekend and the table wouldn't have been any different.

The more I think about it, the more unlikely I think it was a comment of that nature. I'm not denying that the pointless sack of shit did provoke Poch, but I don't think it was with anything like that.

I don't think it really matters what Dean said, to be honest. I think the whole incident has been blown completely out of proportion. It should have ended there and then but the media went after Poch and that's all the FA actually cares about when handing out punishments.

Agree with the last bit, but I would like to know what it was that could push Poch to that kind of fury. We've all seen him look a little peeved, but I don't think I've ever seen him outright furious.

True. Our whole coaching staff were fuming. Mike Dean is also an attention seeking cockend, so I've no doubt he said something. A lot of opposition fans seem to be on our side with this one, which tells you something...

I just don’t know how MD can get off free. There were other people around: camera men, other refs...someone else had to have heard it other than our coaching staff.

There's a legends night tomorrow here in Dublin with Roberts, Burkinshaw and Paul Miller. Roberts is still very tight within the club isn't he? Wonder if someone asked could he shed any light on what Dean said. I imagine he'd have an idea.

The guys on the Fighting Cock podcast said due to this being Poch's first wrist slapping he's got a 'stage 1'(?), telling off.
As such he can give pre match speach, half time speach, and send texts/messages to the staff during the game.
Not too bad.

Poch will be allowed to communicate with his coaching staff via telephone or messenger and can deliver pre-match and half-time speeches in the dressing-room.

I hope, if we score, the whole team runs in front of wherever Poch is sitting & celebrates in front of him to show the world that we couldn't give a fuck if it's us against everyone else. We're in this together!

The FA seem to have given him an unofficial ban if you ask me. He hasn’t officiated a match since and isn’t due to do one this weekend. That’s a bit suspect I reckon.

I that's the case and they are doing it quietly then that's horse manure. Poch's ban is made public yet the FA can hide their own away? Ref's love the attention these days, give him what he craves.

Of course it could be coincidence. But I can't get annoyed over coincidences

I disagree. The FA are guilty of double standards. Klopp is a pain in the arse for officials, yet, at the most, gets a small fine. Poch treats officials with respect (except for the Dean case) and receives a two match touchline ban. It's outrageous.

Dean is only ever half-a-game away from controversy, but if all the inept officials in the PL were suspended there would only be one or two available to officiate! Contrast this with the standard of refereeing in the CL. Most of the officials are very good and this week has seen two excellent performances, from the ref in our match and the ref in the Man U game.

It may well be coincidence but it’s strange for him not to even be a fourth official. Aren’t there only something like 15 referees, so it’s not like there’s lots to share games around between.

That's honestly really not that bad. They were saying on football weekly that it used to be really common for managers to watch the first half of games from the stands any way to get a better view.

I've always preferred to be on the shelf can't imagine how you can see what's going on in the game if you're at ground level. Just a lot of players running back and forth in front of you if you're on the sides.
