I still have no idea how their first goal got through three defenders. I cant really remember a worse display of defending in a long time.

Top 4 is likely gone and as such, I could unfortunately see anything happening this summer. Madrid coming for Poch. Madrid coming for Kane too. And without the CL revenue, maybe Levy says fine. I'm guessing it will affect the naming rights too.

Can't see a ton of players brought in as well. Does anyone really two FBs, two CMs, and an attacker, not to mention third GK will all be bought? Maybe two of those things, but can't see all of them.
Really depressing two weeks here.
I watched the replay 12 times and still couldn't believe it

Sure. But at least he has excuses for him, unlike the 2 others.

Our whole defense has been wank this season. Absolute wank.

Agreed.

Can we please stop this idiotic playing out from the back

If you think about this combined with the number of games we’ve played crap teams and got away with a win in the last minute (Burnley, Fulham etc.) we’ve had a wretched old time of it this season in many ways.

No doubt we will spend some money this summer (probably without matching the other clubs in the top 6) but as usually we have failed to invest when we are on the up, waited for a minor collapse and then we’ll go two steps forward to counter the three steps back. It’s fucking pathetic. If you want the best stadium and you want to charge the top prices, you need to match that on the pitch.

People talking about Poch to United/Madrid..he wouldn't get away with that shit at either of those. As great as he is he has much to learn too.

Pathetic, came out like it was won for the second half.

What a bunch of losers.

Sooner this season is done the better, serious decisions need to be made about our squad in summer
Lack of CL will be used as an excuse not to improve the squad. We will probably sell but not replace.

What a hypocrite, you spam me for calling them 'Spursy' then you post the team as being legends.
Eh? I said the exact opposite. It's not about us being "legends", there's two teams involved and one of them did brilliantly to turn the game around.

Absolutely deserved.

You had easily impressed people on here crowing at half time about how amazing we were playing. The reality was we weren't sharp at all, Southampton were beyond woeful, and even in second gear this was enough to threaten and look alright. We should have had the game won, but it really wasn't great.

The second half was just disgraceful. We saw how good we were playing when the opposition actually put some effort in......

We barely had the ball and any control from the first whistle of it. It was abundantly clear early on that some of them had completely switched off (Rose, Vertonghen), others just disappeared out of the game entirely as the going got tough (Dier, Sissoko, Eriksen, Kane), and Moura was just tragic.

Special mention though for the brains trust on the touchline, and in the stands. Second half we go back to the diamond for some reason. Have three stood up front, and yet again for some reason channel the spirit of Redknapp - let the game get open, put up with all the bollocks in between, eventually we'll outgun the opposition. Well it didn't work. I don't want to see it, please stop fucking doing it.

League campaign has now pretty much fallen apart, that is a very damaging loss and we need a big response. We have done for weeks tbh, but it hasn't come.......

That fucking diamond is the worst formation we’ve come up with in years.

It is the most incompetent formation, it’s actually laughable that we keep going back to it.

This has noting to do with investment. Lazy argument.

This has to do with Kane not taking his chances nor setting up someone else and defenders not clearing their lines.

Break for the free kick started with that poor header from Rose.

We can talk about falling out of the title race being due to a lack of investment, but not the result of this game. We were very good in the first half and had the chances to win it. We didn't take them and the back four had a nightmare on the two goals. Professional players not doing the simple things - Kane taking his chance(s), Rose not letting a ball run across his body.

The defenders will get a lot of criticism, but questions need to be asked of the forwards.

Look at the amount of games we’ve lost in comparison to Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea. It’s insane. We really have fucked it now.

Personally I clap the team off, go for a pint, and hope we win the next one.
guess we have very different way of looking at it, I dont think I could clap off a team after that performance, but guess I also want my team to win things, and become a side with winning mentality, not accept stuff like that.

The worst of all for me is the failure to replace Dembele. He was such an integral part of this side and how we played; that ability to hold on to the ball in in our own half and set us up going forwards.

He's had injury problems for a few years, so his demise was patently predictable. To not even buy one CM in the last few years is almost suicidally negligent.

We are reaping what we sowed.

Just watched the last 30 mins and gee wiz, we were abhorrent.

God knows what was going on with the first goal they scored. Awful defending from Vertonghen and Rose. Second goal thought Lloris had his positioning wrong.

Leading up to the equaliser, Southampton were in total control and threatening, yet we had no one on the pitch and on the bench that could take the sting out of them and retain possession. Desperately short in CM and it will cost us top 4.

So ironic, that we finally are to move into the stadium next season and we’ll be playing on Thursdayy nights.....
