A player like Joao Moutinho would have been a great player to have in the role. Winning mentality, CL experience, quality player. We didn't need big money signings, we just needed a few clever ones here and there. Rondon on loan would have been another one for me.
Music to my friggin ears. He will be available this summer for almost nothin and only 29. And still more athletic and mobile than Harry. If anyone actually watched him they would realize that this is actually a good deal.

One of these fucking days someone, somewhere is gonna explain how a f*cking broken HAND affects you playing FOOTball. I know you don't go for it Prim but it keeps popping up as an excuse by his apologists. How pitiful is that?

And just to add...I’m not an apologist. I thought he was shit in the match and hasn’t been great all season, but yeah a broken ‘anything’ is going to cause issues for a professional footballer.

That was a bloody shame to lose to that lot and I'd have to question why KWP isn't trusted more to play as a right back or wing back. That makes little sense to me.

If we've damaged our pre-Ajax mojo now, as Poch is concerned about, then you gave to wonder why he put square pegs in round holes even accounting for resting a few. Hopefully we can pick ourselves up and not screw the 2-legs against Ajax. But all the meaning about our schedule compared to theirs and the negativity around injuries/suspensions suggests a side getting excuses in early rather than tackling things head on.

We've been stuttering for a while now, and if we could get some mojo going up front again that'd be very welcome. But 0-0 seems like an optimistic outlook for Tuesday

Quite obvious really, at this precise moment in time Poch prefers Foyth as our right back rather than KWP.

Disappointing result with a bit of frustration thrown in when you consider our problems over the season, and recent injuries; not having our midfield 2 of Winks and Sissoko didn't help in the slightest.

However, I felt that we did well first half. We may not have created enough goal-scoring opportunities in this period (story of the season), but we were more or less dominant in possession and were winning all the 50/50s. WH had a few chances, but none of them were particularly dangerous and we defended well. I was pretty pleased at half-time and thought we'd go on to win it.

But coming out after the break, we completely lost the plot. Our shape had completely gone, we were not doing particularly well in midfield and after they scored, we didn't really have any composure to carve out good chances. In this period the ball just wouldn't drop for us, we weren't winning the 50/50s; there was a drop in intensity from our players. I'm guessing they probably had one eye on Tuesday and Poch may even have spoke to them about that (just my onions).

Anyway, just need to draw a line under yesterday and leave everything on the pitch Tuesday night....oh, and hope results today are kind on us.

Miles off the pace and clueless today similar to Tuesdays game but that time we got out of jail but today we got found out.
totally different games. West Ham played further up and showed ambition. We could have got in behind them and had the players top do it. But when the chances came, no one seemed to have the desire, or even the legs to run.
Brighton was a slog. They sat so deep and packed the box, there was nowhere to go, nowhere to pass in to. That's why all our shots were from outside the box.

not sure why some people on here feel the need to be so condescending when they reply to something they don’t agree with or don’t like.

anyway, i get what you’re saying. in my opinion, Dembele was and still is a better CM than Dier, that’s more what my post was getting at.

Regardless of his wishes, there’s no way he should been let go without a replacement already confirmed.

There was absolutely no condescension in my response whatsoever. Was nothing but an (in depth) answer to you asking why did we let Dembele leave.

Sorry you took it the way you did.

Cheers.

As for the result & performance yesterday, as gutting as it all was, I came across this on Twitter when I woke up this morning and, in my opinion, it puts things into perspective.

Great post hence the rating.

Shame that society has weighed in again on some of the responses to the original post, what is up with people?

Another wedge driven into not caring half as much about football as I used to. :(

Easy in hindsight but Eriksen was playing so deep I thought he was in the back four we should have been at these from the whistle not bugger about for 75 min dare I say we missed trippier badly today
You've picked up on something there.
It always seems to me that whenever Llorente comes on we never play to his strengths, crossing the ball.
If Trippier is on, Poch takes him off. He took Rose off who was getting more joy than most and Moura who was also causing problems.
And our build up play in general, even when we win, its so slow.
Our counter attacks yesterday were tortoise pace not due to tiredness but the speed we move the ball. Its like we're waiting for the opposition to get 11 men back behind the ball.
Teams with a shocking defensive record should be pressured right from the first whistle. Get the fkin ball in the box, shoot and make them make mistakes. And when I say shoot I mean towards goal, hard and low not 80ft in the air. You'll get deflections, rebounds and hurried clearences.
I've said before sometimes we play, even when a goal down with 10 min left, like we are running the clock down.
And it not fatigue as we've been like it since the start.
It urgency, a lack of.
Need a rocket up the arse and punish these shit teams not stand off keep the ball, left right left right looking for an opening that is never gonna come. One Twos off the ball movement, go at them and bloody shoot, thats how we beat shit teams.
Sorry for my ranting. Just pissed off.

Been a weird ass season, so many deflating weekends, the Arsenal and Chelsea one’s still feel the worst, but Wolves and Southampton stand out too were they were both unlucky to only beat us once. In truth if the others weren’t so shite CL qualification would have been over long ago so that’s a positive we’re even still in it. Then you factor in the CL were it seems we have 9 lives, you get that Leicester feeling where we’re meant to win it. I’m less hopeful on top 4, I think is going to come down to if the others continue to be shit, if they up their game I don’t think we’re going to get the required points.
Whatever you do for fucks sake don't mention defeats because I made the mistake of mentioning it yesterday and upset the moderators of the site gb160 and shadydan, who made it clear that a huge number of losses was not an issue and strangely enough they were happy with it.
So just a heads up it's perfectly acceptable in their view and so the likes of us are not to voice opinion like that nor the abject performance from the management and team yesterday.(y)(n)

Watched that Jansen header over and over - it wasn’t great from him. It needed a Ferdinand, Kane, Berbatov powerful bullet header, high, to put pace on it so at that short distance, it’s only the keeper who can stop it and only with crazy reflexes. He gets it all wrong in my opinion - oddly trying to place it, and back into the opposition rather than away, and weirdly going low too. Kane puts that away. Sorry it’s a woeful attempt given the opportunity

Come on Shelfy,
Surely you can see that banging on about the number of defeats while conveniently ignoring the amount of wins (directly responsible for our current league position) is slightly disingenuous ?
