What bothers me about Everton is that we hammered them at Goodison in one of our few genuinely outstanding performances this season. They don't need Europe to be motivated to get a result next Sunday. Straightforward professional pride will have them fully motivated. We will likely be coming off a semi-final defeat (possibly a pretty brutal one) and at as low an ebb as a team could be going into a game. It's about as out of our hands as it could be while still technically being in control of our own fate.
Don't rule us out of the CL yet. Jan coming back, Son I'm sure will be feeling like an idiot after today and wanting to make up for it. Our finishing was poor today but we played well in the first half

My feelings are a strange mixture of disbelief and resignation. Like I'm shocked, but not surprised, if that makes sense. Cant believe it happened at the time but sort of expected it. I guess that's part of being a Spurs fan lol.

yep. i’m shocked at us finding new ways to fuck ourselves over, but not surprised.

I'd have agreed with you this morning that we were still in with a shout on Wednesday. But I really don't see it now. The players are rattled, that's clear to see. I think MP is too. He must have tried everything he knows to get the team out of this rut but it's not working. He knows it and the players know it.

It’s always darkest before the dawn. Have a feeling Dele will score the winner on Wednesday and Tripps will score the winning free kick on Sat. Also have a feeling I’m going to see a lot of rainbows at the end of this message.

whatever you’re on, I’ll take two please.

To be fair I think today rubbed all of us up the wrong way.

I think what scared me after today's match is the realisation that one more fuck up and that's it. In the past we've had multiple games to try and correct our wrongs and that almost served as a comfort, which is now gone. It's just hit home a little bit for me and I'm very anxious for next week now.

I’m only talking about last window. Besides, there was money- we wouldn’t have had to sell Eriksen to bring in some new players. The line trotted out by the club was that we needed to shift GNJ, Janssen- the deadwood- before we could buy yet they’ve barely played this season anyway so we should have consigned them to the reserves

Janssen wasn't in the squad for the 1st half of the season. the need was for CM at the start and to buy 2 CM it would of meant leaving Dembele and Wanyama or even more controversial would of to add Sissoko because don't forget he wasn't worthy of the Spurs shirt, and 99.9% of this forum would of driven him free to another club if anyone put an offer in for him.

the other players on the out list was Toby and Rose.

so out of those 5 the only 2 you could say we should of left out of the squad was Dembele and Wanyama.

Try not to get to wired by it. If we fuckup and end up in the EL, it’ll signal how fucked up our transfer policy has been lately. It should precipitate a change, because that big expensive stadium will need filling and Carrier Bag FC on a Thursday evening isn’t too inviting. Either way, a light canter into the top four might have prolonged the arrogance that not adding to the squad was a legitimate choice.

This week is on Poch. He has to use all his reserves to pull us back in line

I guess technically we’ve still got two chances - Ajax and Everton. We’ve also got a total of four other fixtures involving Arsenal and United where if both drop points we’ll qualify.

But I know what you mean. It’s very likely that we’ll go into the Everton game needing a win to qualify. At least it’s still in our hands.

Dear footballing gods, I know we’ve never seen eye to eye ever since stealing your son Hoddle but can you provide a much needed helping hand tomorrow...

We’re not asking for much just four results to go our way and let Huddersfield beat Utd, Watford best Chelsea, Brighton beat Arsenal and let the Dutch cup final be a brutal high intensity battle that goes to extra time and sees Ajax lose that would be great thanks

I'll be amazed if Arsenal don't find a way to win at Burnley after today's result. It's got Fulop-at-WBA-2012 written all over it for me, we'll probably see a normally solid defender like Tarkowski putting backpasses short and gifting the scum a goal or two. :grumpy:

I've tried to convince myself of a few things that we may benefit from in not making the CL, but I think I'm kidding myself :( I won't feel so bad about it if we build a team that really looks to have built on what we currently have in the right way and we look really strong for the league but this is us we're talking about.

True, although I'm not even considering qualification via the CL at this stage! I'm just not going to follow the others teams matches tomorrow, think I'll just end up disappointed and yes, I think we will need a win against Everton.

We're still in a better position than the others with it being in our hands, like you say. It's just hard to trust this team at the moment! I just watched the highlights of the West Ham v Saints game, Saints starting the much better team but make a mistake in midfield, West Ham get one chance, bang goal. This is really what we need more of, more clinical finishing. Really hope to see it next week.

Unfortunately, literally none of those things will happen.

Its a vicious cycle with this team.

Have it in our hands
Fuck it up a little
Somehow have it in our hands still, but with loads of added pressure
Fail under the pressure.

Rinse and repeat

I see what you're saying, but we performed very admirably when we were down to 9 men. There was a lot of fight out there. Son was stupid but he was clearly provoked, Foyth was just plain stupid, but we know he's inexperienced. But I don't think the players are that rattled

Selling Dembele in January purely for greedy financial gains over the balance and strength of the squad, then not replacing him is one of the most disgraceful things to have come out of this season.

With Winks fucked, we’ve not got a single player capable of holding the ball in midfield. I’m absolutely certain we would’ve picked up more points with Dembele in the team, but clearly that £11m was worth it. Wasn’t it?

By the way, what is the difference in prize money between 3rd place and 6th place? I’d hazard a guess it’s more than £11m.

Wankers.

we never got 11m

Dear heart,

Please forgive me for the amount of times your rate will increase over the next 2 games. Hang in there buddy.
