Now then, remember that there won't be thread title changes to accommodate the fragile feelings on display as our fortunes during the season sway to and fro because, quite frankly, i've got better things to do with the added bonus that seeing some of the more emotionally unstable of you moaning about it amuses me greatly............so what do we call this?

So here's your chance to make your voice heard ignored :p

As Bill Nicholson said, “It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. At Spurs we set our sights very high, so that even failure will have in it an echo of glory.”

.....So let's go for "Race for 6th"

Fascinating season where every one of the top 8 have issues of some kind.

Never known a season so open and unpredictable…

City - lost Gundogan & Mahrez (may yet lose Walker)
Arsenal - Hugely over performed first 3/4 of last season, will they revert to the norm and slip back
Utd - Very fragile squad, can’t see what others rate about them
Liv - Struggled last season replacing front three, will they fire this year or will they suffer losing the heart of their midfield this year
Che - Christ knows, genuinely can’t name their starting 11 off the top of my head. Know they’ve spent a lot but I have no idea how they’ll play 🤷‍♂️
Newc - Riding a wave last season but unsure they have the quality to repeat that level again. Think they’ll drift back to mid table (very tough start will be rude awakening)
Tot - so many unknowns, will new defenders settle quickly, will new attacking intent work (everyone has a plan till they get smacked in the face), will lane be here, who will replace him

The season could genuinely go in any direction this year and after growing up in the era of Utd dominance I love to see that it’s all to play for even if City are still massive favourites.

Oh no, how on earth will they cope? :D

I think City will walk the league this year. But agree with everything else, it’s very hard to predict where the other teams will fall. There’s also the likes of Villa and Brighton to consider.

Beyond City I think this is the hardest PL to predict in years. Well, the top half of the table anyway.

2nd - 9th is as tight as it's ever been. Certainly in terms of quality (both managerial and players).

Think Villa were the 3rd best team points-wise from the moment Emre took over so they're a serious proposition and Brighton look sensational under De Zerbi. Really need to hope they both get distracted by Europe.

I like the way you have it at the moment.

I find it believable that this thread could be called "race for the title" in 9 months time.

I would also believe "race for survival".

You need an option in there for top 5, saying that could qualify for the CL too.

(Obviously that is where we will finish and then not qualify for it because the PL clubs will have a stinker in Europe this season. Proper Spursy).

Could. And if it doesn't? What then? Will the pedants be chasing me around the place with pitchforks and marshmallow encrusted love eggs? (fingers crossed)

Fucking hell :D

Europe covers most bases, especially with it not being certain where we'd need to finish for UCL football this season

I really don’t know on this one!

At the game yesterday we looked so good going forward and will only get better! But…. it felt like we could concede every time they attacked us and SD aren’t a patch on what we will come up against attack wise this season!

such a tough start to the season too, 3 out of 4 away from home and the home game is Man Utd!
Brentford will love sitting deep then try to kill us on the counter!

If and it’s a big if we can have a good start to the season (first six matches) I think we can push for top four, COYS 😀

I’d like to see the business done before any prognostications.

As we know though, 5th gets you a spot in the CL next season so if Kane stays I think 5th could be a reasonable goal.

I have zero hopes of a title challenge or even top 3 but I think we’re right in there with the Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Brighton, Villa cohort.

haha, look at the vote, it's so close......whatever it's called there will be people on a quest for total accuracy, which, let's face it, we all knew anyway :p
