There's a chance we'll see both playing on Wednesday evening, though. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Poch once again tries Rose in CM, with Davies at LB.

Ajax were clearly mobile in the middle of the pitch & mobility is currently the biggest issue surrounding both Dier & Wanyama.

Personally, despite their lack of mobility, I'd still rather one of those 2 were played next to Sissoko in the middle, but the Rose option wouldn't surprise me one little bit.
Coopsie, if he plays Rose in midfield, I would play Jan at LB and Sanchez with Toby. Jan's performance against Dortmund was better than anything Rose or Davies have done all season. His crosses that day were on a penny, whereas Rose recently doesn't look like he could hit a hot air balloon if someone had parked it in the 18 yard box. Will be interesting though, lots of very valid options

But to be fair, Danny Rose of this season is more like his old self where he wasn't struggling with non footballing issues over the last 2 or so seasons. Going by this season and current form, rose is the better attacking option.
His crossing is incredibly wasteful, though, that's my point. He goes outside more often than not and nothing comes of it. Davies is more likely to play little balls inside, and with Son and Lucas up front, it seems like a more useful tactic in some ways.

Anyway, I'm sure Rose will start. Let's hope he has a worldie.

I wouldn't say nothing comes of it, as he has a few assists this season, but should have more. I think rose causing more problems for defenders than Davies. If llorente starts I would say Davies is the better option.

Transfer Market has him at 5, so I don't know. Its my opinion that Rose is infinitely more influential in the offensive piece of the game than Davies is.

Agree to disagree. Rose is faster and gets into great positions but I know who I’d rather have crossing the ball and it’s not Danny I’m afraid.

I'd rather have Rose beating a full back off the dribble and passing the ball to an offensive player than Davies launching crosses in the box from 30 yards out.

I completely agree. The issue is that Rose more often than not passes to an opposition player or the opposite stand.

I prefer Rose as a player, and definitely want him starting ahead of Davies, I’m merely disputing any comment that Rose is more likely to create a goal. He isn’t.

lol @ people suggesting Davies over Rose. Throughout this terrible run of results Rose has been our second best player after Sissoko. Also at people having Trippier still in a starting lineup. Foyth who has played about 100 minutes at right back in his career, has a mistake or 5 up his sleeve and lasted all of 2.5 minutes on Saturday is still a safer option. I'd rather have Atouba or Gilberto on the wrong side than Trippier. Utter liability. That said... he will obviously start.

I'd like to see

GK: Lloris
RB: Foyth
CB: Toby
CB: Jan
LB: Rose
DCM: Wanyama
DCM: Sissoko
CAM: Alli
AML: Eriksen
AMR: Moura
CF: Son

I expect we'll see

GK: Lloris
RB: Trippier
CB: Toby
CB: Jan
LB: Rose
DCM: Wanyama
DCM: Sissoko
CAM: Alli
AML: Eriksen
AMR: Son
CF: Llorente

It would be mental to play Llorente for this one, we need to hit them hard and fast on the break with Sonny and Moura.

Also I am no fan of Trippier but I would be very wary of chucking Foyth in out of position, he's clearly talented but very rash

Plus to be honest after his stupidity in last game I personally don't feel he deserves to start in this prestigious match.

Trippier should play this one.

Agreed. Against a ball playing team I would still play Foyth ahead of him. Yes he made a bad mistake on Saturday, but ultimately he is a better player than Trippier in every single department.
Not hard to be better than Trippier, in all fairness. But Foyth is a CB and should remain that way. If Tripper doesnt play tomorrow(which i hope he doesnt), KWP should play. At least KWP adds something in attack, something that, despite reputation, Trippier does not.

Trippier has been pretty awful this season but you still feel he has it in him to deliver a great ball or do something positive, even though we haven’t seen it much recently. We need to win the game so I think we need to be positive on our team selection and hope he has a good day.

I was thinking the same but the more I think about it the more we can't risk a red card. As talented as he is it's just too much of risk.

I'm not sure that red on Saturday is indictive of the way he plays generally tbh.

RB - Knackered
CB X2 - Knackered
LB - Knackered
2 x CM - Knackered
3 x AM - Knackered
CF - Knackered

Foyth over Trippier for me.

As much as I have been unimpressed with Tripps this season, we're not gonna get away with square pegs in round holes forever.

Yes Foyth has done well in that position once or twice but it's only a matter of time before experiments like that and Rose anywhere other than LB/LWB cost us.

Taking into account Trippier's form where he has cost us goals this season and he's almost certain to cost us a goal again I think we may as well risk it tomorrow.
