Ousmane Dembele doesn't tackle; neither does Isco; Asensio not really; Bale; Ronaldo; Lo Celso... (etc etc etc)
I know mentioning Lo Celso here was a bit of a throwaway comment but I just want to clarify that Lo Celso is an excellent tackler and will 100% get stuck in (y)

Measuring this season against his exceptionally high standards of previous seasons, he hasn't been very good this season. Yes he has a lot of assists but his free kicks and corners have generally been poor. He doesn't look interested most of the time and I doubt the kilometres covered are anywhere near that of previous seasons. If he stays, hopefully he can regain some of his form but perhaps a new challenge elsewhere is what he needs.
With respect to previous posters, what he has done since 2013/14 means nothing if he isn't producing the goods now. If past achievements is what it is all about, we'd still have Jennings in goal, Mackay and Blanchflower in defence and Greavesy up front.

Real had been reluctant to pay more than £88m for the Belgian, but eventually agreed to a deal that is set to earn Chelsea as much as £130m once all the bonuses have been met.
It is understood the bonuses are easily achievable and the Blues are extremely confident they will receive the full £130m for the forward, who only had one year left on his contract.

Levy will be loving this. No way Madrid lowball him.

Huge news tbh, Hazard’s pulled up Eriksen’s price now surely

Hazard is a priority signing for Real, can you say the same for Eriksen?

Yes, if they get priced out of Pogba.

As if Levy will care what Madrid's priorities are anyway. He'll name the price, if they fall well short he'll sell it to Eriksen as them not wanting enough, then offer him a big pay rise. He can point to Hazard going for £88m/£130m and say that makes Eriksen a £70m/100m player. Of course he'll be concerned of losing him for nothing next year, but I don't see Levy letting them name their price out of fear either.

Bear in mind Hazard would have just stopped playing for Chelsea if Chelsea hadn't let him go he has form after all. Eriksen won't do that but I suspect if Real Madrid want him we will do a deal.

Or maybe the fact that he lost his midfield partners and had no consistency of form or injury status in front of him... Nah no way, couldn't be that.
He missed Dembele and having to play more games has hindered him too.

If he were to stay, i'd imagine his performances would go up in level once more.

It should also be noted that he's said he would sign a new contract if he doesn't find a better opportunity this summer, thereby not screwing us out of a fee next summer. I think that's admirable in these mercenary times. Doesn't smack of someone who doesn't care.
I could be wrong but I thought he didn't rule that out? Unless I saw it wrong, it looked like he was asked about leaving on a free and he said he was open to it

I must have seen about 20-30 twitter posts slamming people for giving Eriksen shit and saying how badly we are going to miss him, but I haven't actually seen a post yet of people calling him shit:LOL:. I think it's one of those where people ignore the 99% and focus on the 1% of posts.

agree - i think he should have kept quiet for the time being as hes created a rod for his own back now and his options just diminished by 1. Realistically id guess PSG and Bayern are the only realistic options if its really about the football and not the cash?

Great player that will be missed. If he wants a new challenge we should sell him as long as the price is right. This is an opportunity to improve and build for the future. Hopefully the club moves fast and secure the players we need. COYS

The thing is per his quotes he's not desperate to get out at all costs. He wants to see if Madrid or Barca fancy him, and I'd imagine RM have given him and his agent plenty of encouragement. Now the burden is on them to make a deal.

i just hope they havent hung him out to dry as we'll be stuck with a player that would rather be elsewhere.

I actually think Real would be a bad move for him. I think he is at his right level with us. real fans have variously given Bale, Modric and even Ronaldo a whole bunch of stick, can you imagine how tolerant they will be of Eriksen.

Besides can they really afford another £80-100m player. I’ve been reading lots about how their finances are not great, that they had to sell Ronaldo to stay in the black and had to borrow to meet pay for their semi-annual wage bill. borrowing money to meet normal working capital commitments is not a sign of financial health.

Regardless, if he forgoes then he goes with my best wishes, 6 great years of service and some wonderful memories.

This is how I see it, he said he fancies a new challenge, Bradford City would be a challenge but I bet we all doubt that's what he meant. He is 27 so it is the perfect time to test the water of one of the top tier clubs if nothing comes of it then he probably will stay but if he doesn't try it he will always wonder and probably regret it.
As it happens I have a gut feeling something's been decided already but you never know.
