I think some of us are missing the point about Eriksen leaving, this isn't like Michael Carrick for whom we were just a lifeboat from the sunken ship West Ham United a safe haven until he could go somewhere better which he did as quick as he could nor is it like Luca Modric who wanted out didn't want to waste any more of his career at a second rate club and wanted to go somewhere better somewhere like Chelsea and went public to slag us off and force his way out, he didn't choose Real we did. Eriksen isn't using us as a stepping stone but if a change that suits him comes along I understand why he might be interested, people in all walks of life need a change from time to time and he has been with us for almost half a career so I am not surprised but this time his leaving won't hurt us as we can bring in quality, this happens at all big clubs so we should be ready for it and not be so defensive.

It seems that there are a lot of different thoughts about his abilities. And that's all fine. For me he is on par with Kane, yes he did drop in performance this season. But during his six years at the club he has had one of the most important roles in the rise of this club. For me he will be remembered as a legend.

Can we shut the fuck up about tackling and physicality. Boring topic. He’s an ATT MF not a CB. Since 2013/14 he’s created 547 chances and 60 assists for us. More than any other player in the PL.. Take into account he played under AVB and Sherwood and some of the shit players we used to have that didn’t take the chances he made. He’s never been injured he puts more than a shift every match and we’ve absolutely flogged him for 2/3 seasons by not buying an understudy/rotation option. If he doesn’t play we’re absolutely awful. Him and winks are the only 2 players in our squad with the ability to get on the ball and dictate play. He has to come deep and not everything comes off for him as the passes he try’s to play are the defence splitting ones. Add the big goals he’s scored for us his importance is so severely underrated by our fans. We need another player like him as it is and if he goes we have to get 2 to replace him. Need to go above and beyond to keep him

It should also be noted that he's said he would sign a new contract if he doesn't find a better opportunity this summer, thereby not screwing us out of a fee next summer. I think that's admirable in these mercenary times. Doesn't smack of someone who doesn't care.

I never pay much attention to these kind of stats.
The fact this claims he's made 34 headed clearances is an example.
In terms of heading I don't think I've ever seen a player more pathetic in the heading area, none of the 34 will be thumping clearances and how many of the 34 were just simple bounces off his head with his eyes closed.

I don’t know.

And neither do you.

But at least he was in the right place at the right time to attempt all those tackles and headers and passes and shots and interceptions and blocks and so on.

If you want him to be brilliant at everything, then yes, he’ll disappoint you.

But if you can see that it’s his not just his exceptional positional awareness and vision but the physical ability to get himself into important areas more consistently than most other creative players, make a nuisance of himself even in aspects of his game that aren’t his strengths such as heading and tackling, you’ll understand why he’s regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in the world.

Mesmerising.

My hope is we sign Ndombele and Lo Celso and keep Erikson.

Perfect!!

I've said it before but I think his performances suffered because the whole team were under par for pretty much the whole season. A summer break and some new additions and I reckon we'd have Eriksen back at the top of his game. Fingers crossed.

He’s a very good player but I think we are about his level. I do not see him getting into one of the super club’s teams. I think Juve would be a good fit for him if he wants a new challenge. After 6 years I don’t think you can begrudge him wanting a change of scene and new experiences.

A player of his vision, quick thinking and passing ability will get better with even better players around him.

It’s why he shines when Kane and Dele are fit and firing on all cylinders. Really good players like that benefit from each other. There’s no point making brilliant passes if your team-mates aren’t good enough to anticipate them quicker than the opposition can.

I think he’s the sort of player that a lot of people won’t fully appreciate until he’s gone

Yeah I don't understand the need to slag off / under sell our own players. Our best players Kane, Eriksen, Jan etc would compete for a spot in any team. We have consistently qualified for the CL for several season now + reached the final. You don't do that without having truly elite players.

The Guardian reporting that Chelsea and Real have agreed a fee of £88.5 million for Hazard. That’s just shy of 200 million already this window that they’ve spent. I’d be surprised if they came in for Eriksen given Levy will demand a hefty fee. And I’d be surprised if Utd demanded anything less than 85 million for Pogba.

Can’t see them buying both Eriksen and Pogba, nor can I see them holding on to Bale with these kind of financials. How much a week will Hazard be on now? How much will Pogba demand?

I don't think they'll get Pogba and Eriksen either. What I will say is that I don't think FFP is as big an issue as some people are saying. Madrid have made a profit in each of the last three years. As FFP figures are spread out over a three year window that means they can spend quite a bit this window and then make up any deficit over the next couple of years. It also wouldn't surprise me if they are buying certain players at low cost to sell off at a high price in a year or two.

I think it is time people come to the realization that we’ll be lucky to get 60-70m for Eriksen. Him going public ensured it and weakened our position. Obviously Madrid told him to do so.

How does him going public weaken our position? His agent already knew he wanted to move to Madrid and would've made them very aware of it if he's doing his job properly. If anything it might mean that clubs like Bayern and PSG might take an interest now he's stated he wants a new challenge and drive the price up. He also said that if a club won't meet the valuation he'd be happy to sign a new contract and stay here so any thoughts of Madrid picking him up on a free next year are out the window.

Player of the season in the clubs best ever Premier League finish just about says it all.

Which is a testament to seeing how incredible he is/was with the proper support around him vs. what he played with last year.

I think CE heard about the 3 huge offers last summer his agent was quoted on. If he really fancied one of those, but wasn't allowed to talk to them, that, imo, would account for his perceived drop in performance this season.

Or maybe the fact that he lost his midfield partners and had no consistency of form or injury status in front of him... Nah no way, couldn't be that.

there’s not doubt he’s been a brilliant player for us, and I’m not going to be one of those who turns round and tries to make out he’s rubbish.

but, i’m strangely not bothered by the thought of him leaving. albeit maybe that’s only because i’m excited at the thought of buying Ndombele and Lo Celso.

but i actually think we need a refresh - we were really good with young, hungry players. i think we’ve gone a bit stale with the lack of new faces and fresh energy.

I hope he doesn't waste his time and waste our time now it seems so clear.

Really hope this can be resolved ASAP, be him staying or leaving.
