Annoyingly enough the financial clout United have means they can never be ruled out of these big transfers. Massive shame if we're not even trying to get involved somehow.

Would be a dream move for us, but realistically, having 5 Argentine players in the squad is not doing our HG Quota any good (if we were to sign Lo Celso too)

Thing is even if we got involved Man Utd could blow us out of water wages wise

What I can't quite wrap my head around is why Juve would want Lukaku in the first place. He's never in a million years a good fit for Sarri's intricate passing game -- much more of a battering ram.

They've been linked all summer with a move for Icardi. If they're willing to effectively swap an £80m asset in order to get a striker, I can't see why they wouldn't just sell Dybala and use the money on a player who would be a much better fit than Lukaku.

I think our best and only hope is that this supposed swap deal is just a gambit to force Inter's hand on selling Icardi. If Sarri really has decided he wants Lukaku there'll be nothing we can do. It'd be so Spurs for a manager to make an utterly bizarre decision that just happens to preclude us from having a chance with a top player.

They have been chasing Icardi for so long and now want a player that is completely different. I’m not buying this story.

Not sure why anyone thinks Lukaku wouldn’t be a great signing for any top Italian side, he’d score a shit load of goals in that league!

Only thing that I can’t work out is why Juventus would be offering Dybala in exchange when he’s probably worth more and got a much higher ceiling...

I’d far rather Eriksen new contract and GLC in than Dybala in if it meant CE leaving. Not doubting his footballing ability either as he would be a top signing.

Aren't Juve looking to save money? Lukaku earns more than Dybala now, unless he wants a pay cut, can't see how this benefits either party.

The Media just push whatever line suits. Just need to wait and see how it pans out, the squad isn't far off. Hopefully we can get a few tied up and push on.

Just came to London for the one meeting did he?

Sure.
I was about to say would it be at all possible that he's coming just to understand potential clubs terms etc, meaning more than one club to speak to.

But I have to admit it does look like this one is out of our realm.

I'm struggling to get my head around it too. You want to swap for an inferior player who is on a higher salary who will occupy the same space as Ronaldo. At least Dybala can play off a central player. This deal makes no sense and only sense for United.

I agree with the sentiment - I will say that Nedved said teams when he was talking about interest/bids.

Eh, whatever, it's not the end of the world and it's not like (my own onion) we were truly in from the beginning. Guess we'll see how quickly the story moves now.

Gotta say, I never envisioned Lukakku being a Sarri type player.

Would be annoying if Man U got him. He’s probably what they need in attack actually.

Doesn’t help their midfield or defence though.

I’m sure that’d work if we’d pay £80m, which I doubt we would.

I think it's disappointing to still get beaten to signings by the likes of Arsenal and Utd.

It's like we were an ugly teenager, but now we are grownup we quite fancy ourselves. We've got a smart hair cut and some decent clothes so we get all dolled up and hit the town only to still get rejected but the same girls as before.

That will always happen though until we are able/ prepared to loosen the purse strings.
