20 points from 12 matches as opposed to 14 in 12 under Poch. And that's with Kane missing the last two. Sure, might not be what we were expecting but extrapolate Poch's total over this last 12 and we are 14th with 28 points which is 5 from the drop and 12 from the top 4. Now you can come up with as much rubbish as you want about having a crystal ball to predict 'we were about to turn a corner' as most of the Poch obsessors i've come across tend to spout but however you want to dress it up he was clearly part of the problem along with the players. The upturn in points with the same group of players should tell you that. I hated to see it as I loved Poch but he just wasn't the same man any more. The situation with the players had affected him also. But it wasn't the "best part of a whole year" was it? We were in title race in January 2019. And in all four major competitions.
We fell apart in the league in February 2019 but beat Dortmund, City and Ajax in the Champions League.
We then started this season awkwardly with injuries to Lo Celso, Foyth, NDombele and we never sold Eriksen. And we didn't play Jan for reasons which have become all too painfully obvious. BUT we got points against City away, should have got a point aginast Liverpool away and held a two goal advantage against the Scum away. The POINT being we were SCORING however much we hated the fucking diamond.
It all fell apart completely when Lloris chucked it in his own net and fucked himself in the process against Brighton. We thought that was as bad as it could get. So we sacked Poch and hired Mourinho and we were PROMISED this would bring immediate results IF NOT SILVERWARE.
But now we see... what? Scraping a win against Norwich after our worst winter points haul since... I can't even remember? We can't defend, can't attack. What exactly has improved?
Yes, Mourinho has to be given time. But results AND performances have proven that Poch could also have been given time. We weren't sold "we will scrape a draw away to Norwich and scrape a scrappy win at home against Norwich", were we? We were told Poch was the reason this squad wasn't' performing. THAT'S what pisses people off.
I personally think the entire squad needs a major overhaul and am happy for Mourinho to do so. But while he plays Dier, Eriksen, Moura, Jan while leaving NDombele, Sanchez, Skipp and Parrot to rot on the bench or on the sidelines I think I'm allowed to be a little bit fucking worried.
Okay?
I'd have hoped we'd have had 5 or 6 more points at this point under Mourinho, but you'd be an idiot to say there's been no mitigating factors with the scale of our injuries.
As for silverware, we're still in all competitions we mathematically have a chance to win - without Kane. Let's just see what we can do with a decent number 9 and a few players coming back.
Regardless of whether it was Pochettino's fault or not it doesn't fucking matter now because he's gone anyway.
