LOL, Henderson just said on Sky Sports that the big moment in their season was when he scored the equaliser against us back in October.

(The game was the one after after they had drawn to Man Utd, thus failing to match our long standing 11 game opening winning streak for a top tier League in Europe (best in Italy, Spain and Germany is 10 games) , I don't count PSG's 14 game sequence, since France is well-known farmer's league)

No way Chelsea won't win one of either Wolves, or Goons in the FA Cup final.

We just need to beat Palace and we get EL either way.

Maybe. But I'd rather we qualify directly for the EL group phase rather than having to play a couple of early qualifying rounds - which means that we have to better Wolves' result on Sunday and Chelsea have to beat Arsenal six days later.

Even though I think the disallowed Son goal against Leicester was a key moment in how the season turned out for us, him hitting the bar away at Liverpool when had he scored instead we would have gone 2 up may well of had an effect on both teams. So Henderson’s comments aren’t exactly wide of the mark and maybe very close to it if they felt that psychologically at the time.

Regardless of what happens Jose deserves credit that we’re in the hunt for any European spot on the final day, we were 14th when he took over.
There was a stat on our game last week showing the table since he took over. We were 4th.

The good thing about us not challenging for the CL places is that we don't have someone starting a thread saying 'if we finish 4th and 'insert English team' wins the CL/EL, does that mean we're not in the Champions League anymore'.

So he has a better than 50% win rate, which is better than I expected.

So he has a better than 50% win rate, which is better than I expected.

In all competitions, according to Wikipedia, he has a 47.06% WR over 34 games.

That's his second worst win % at a club in his career.

In other comparisons, his Win % at the "failure" jobs at both Man Utd and Chelsea (just over 58%) would still comparatively make him our most successful manager in our history*.

(*Brettell was just under the Chelsea %, and just over the Man Utd %, but that was in the 1800's)

And people say Chelsea are nailed on for top 4 next season :D
Until they buy a keeper and a defence they're not even nailed on for top half.

It's absolutely incredible that they've bought Werner, Ziyech and close to Havertz, yet theres no links to say they're even close to signing defenders.

4th with injuries to Kane, Lloris, Son (also suspended) etc. is close to sensational.

Obviously not only due to Mourinho, but we have used the most players in the league this year (29).

Arsenal, West Ham and Man Utd are the other clubs on 29. No coincidence in my head that at least 3 out of 4 clubs at 29 have had disappointing seasons (Utd arguably have not - even if 63 points in 37 games is hardly stellar).

In the other end you find Liverpool, Leicester, City, Burnley and Wolverhampton - who all have had solid or better than expected seasons. Everton also have used few players and I guess is the only team among those that haven't performed well or far above expectations (City arguably is on par with expectations - or even slightly below).

You need some consistency in your line-up. We haven't really had that until just recently.

I can see the reasoning, but Leicester are still Leicester and may actually fuck off back into mid table obscurity next season anyway, CL or not.

Chelsea and Utd are the clubs we compete with every year, and a CL shaped hole in your finances will hurt any club.

Winning the EL = CL regardless of what happens in the league. That's the Golden ticket if there's only mid level teams in the competition and Jose gets us back to the top of our game we'll be the big dog in the competition.

Don’t forget Sissoko. He might leave much to be desired but, without him, we are physically very weak in midfield. He was a bigger miss than many realise.

So as it stands
If Wolves beat Chelsea we'll stay 7th and Chelsea may lose out on CL if Leicester get at least a draw with United
If we finish 7th we are in a EL qualifying position
If Chelsea beat Arsenal in the cup we qualify for EL but
If Arsenal beat Chelsea in the cup we lose our EL spot to them
If Chelsea beat Wolves they cement CL and we can go 6th with a win or a draw
If we are 6th we definitely qualify for EL
So what do we want?
Chelsea to beat Wolves and Get CL ensuring we get EL with a draw or
Wolves to beat Chelsea so they lose CL, it doesn't help us but, well you know, fuck them!

You've forgotten something. If we finish 7th, the gooners lose the FA cup, BUT wolves win the Europa, we lose a Europa league place.

While I may be wrong, I don't think so.

If Wolves win the Europa they'll get a CL place but we'll still get Europa. I don't think a country loses a Europa place if a team from that country wins the CL; it just gets an additional CL place. While I'm guessing here, it might also mean that we get through to the Europa group stage instead of playing a qualifier, because Wolves, who would finish in 6th and would have gone through to the group stage, will instead be in the CL.

I think the only way that we can fail to get Europa is if the Goons win the FA Cup.
