I’m pretty sure Gareth couldn’t just sack his agent. There will be a contract, very much like his contract with Madrid with minimum terms etc.

In fact, I’m fairly certain we’ve actually had it a few years back with a player (possibly Dele) where a contract extension wernt signed until his deal with his agent ended and he was with his new agency.

We’re not talking about some cockney wide boy pulling up a chair and negotiating up some old table and figures done on the back of a fag packet. This is a multi billion pound industry with contracts written by the most legally savvy people in the world.

Besides who says he’s not happy with his agent? Looks to me like his agent is doing exactly as he’s being paid to do, keep his clients financial interests a priority and what a fine job he is doing!

Madrid have apparently blocked moves in the past but I wouldn't blame him if he did leave for Miami, he's won everything worth winning;

La Liga x2
Copa del Rey x1
Supercopa x1
Champions League x4
Super Cup: x2
Club World Cup: x3

He has nothing to prove to anyone so why would he come back to the UK where he would be hyper-scrutinised and given shit 24/7 by utter plebs?
At the age of 31, feels too young for him to go to the MLS, you only have one career, and serial winners want to play at the highest level as long as possible, MLS would be a cop-out for me, sure he doesn't want to leave Europe, on a sour note of his last season, surely someone in his positioned would want to prove his doubters wrong, and going to the MLS won't do that

I'm pretty sure he could. He would have to pay some form of severance/compensation for sacking the agent but I'm sure it's something he could cover with the wages he's on. The agent/player contract isn't comparable to the Bale/Madrid contract due to the vast difference of sums involved.

On p.82 there was discussion about Barnet being the issue, thus my post.

You can pretty much sack your agent whenever you want too, you’ll just need to continue to pay his commission on any contract he negotiated until they expire or are voided. So GB would still pay commission on say the Adidas contract to Barnet even after he fired him...

My point though, was the same as yours - he’s happy with Barnet at the end of the day!

He was willing to go to China before Madrid pulled the plug on that move. It's becoming increasingly clear that he'll go wherever he can get a payday. At the moment he's coining it in sitting on Madrid's bench and seems quite happy to continue doing so.

Going to Barca would.

Perhaps he just wanted to play regularly and China was the only offer on the table

I mean I'm just going through the video, he explains that if a player 'can't retire and never work again after a finishing with football, he has an agent has failed'. It shows the priority. I'm not saying it's the wrong priority to take, but I can see how that mentality might hurt clients finding more playing time for a worse deal.

I mean yes, he tries to maximise his wallet too, but he is selling a product, and I suspect his success as an agent comes from prioritising finances.
If I was a player and I never had to work again after I finished playing I'd be well happy. In the end it's life that matters not football although I guess that's probably harder for a fan to understand than for a footballer.

Listen how many of my kids do I need to sacrifice to get Bale back playing for us? I feel after the shit we have been through its the sort of boost we could use.

Let’s face facts, Bale was an unbelievable player for us but that ship has long sailed and it’s clear he has little interest in playing football. Even discussing him coming back to us is pointless on every level.

I'm of the opinion that there's a deal to be done but it's incredibly difficult, incredibly complex and in all likelihood won't happen but there is a way of negotiating a deal, Levy for all his faults is one of the best in the business when it comes to negotiations, so there is a chance, especially if Mourinho says he wants him (which we know he does).

Chances of it happening 5% I would say, maybe up to 8/9% after the interview with Sky midweek

Hopefully he would want to play again for the fans who adored him and a club and manager who value him. Let’s be honest Real are and always have been a s**t club .

There’s too many assumptions about Bale at the moment. He’s no good anymore, he just wants to play golf, he’s a troublemaker, he’s only after the money. Nobody knows really!

He does seem to have difficulty with knowing when to get rid of problematic barnets that are making him look silly :cautious:

For any of our international members not familiar with rhyming slang, Barnet is short for Barnet Fair, meaning 'hair'.

Terrible source, and makes zero sense to me but seeing as some people seem to like to take media reports as gospel and formulate opinions/arguments accordingly:

To save anyone the horror of having to visit the Talksport website, former Real President Ramon Calderon has said that Real rejected an offer of £89m on last years deadline day for Bale.

yeh it makes sense that footballers would go with that.

Mind, I personally would at some point not see the point right, Bale has enough money to give a very good life to 4 or 5 generations now if not more. He earns 3 times the lifetime earnings of most households in a year!

and whoever was willing to pay that for him would certainly try again for a hugely reduced fee unless they consider him a troublemaker now. Mind you Calderon could be a complete liar.
