I don’t think it will last. We will play against very similar negative teams soon and we will struggle playing the same way as them. We have been very fortunate with the games we won. An injury to Kane or Son and we have nothing it seems. Our whole attacking game plan is relying on 2 players to be exceptional to win games. They have so far.
I wonder if there were Chelsea fans back in the day moaning ffs we're just relying on Drogba to bring down long balls, this cant carry on.

Loved being there. So nice to get the chance once again to see a live game and experience the atmosphere. Fans did well with chant / singing in such a vast arena. It was also good to experience the South stand. Only problem was I forgot my binoculars and because it was the Arsenal goal in the second half it was a struggle to see any white shirts. I would so like to have been proved wrong and report on a breathtaking attacking display. Arsenal though were toothless thanks to a great team effort.

I will have to watch the game on TV but from where I was it looked like PEH, Harry and Sonny got kicked all over the place. Admittedly in a crowd we are always biased to our team; but was the refereeing as bad as it looked?

Still once again we manage to win a game with only five shots though Arsenal had few more and were far less threatening. World class strikes once again by Son and Kane. Surely the two most valuable footballers in the league. With them our socially distanced football ... keeping the virus down by staying out of the opposition half of the field as much as possible ... is working.

So good to beat the old enemy ???

We heard you all game. For some reason I really loved it when you cheered sissoko and then sang his song. He looked like he really loved it.

What I find amusing is the idea that the way we're playing, somehow is easy and that any team could if they wanted to.

It's why you see comments like "They only sit back and then pass it to Kane and Son".

It's like it's beyond the realms of imagination that a solid defence takes time, effort and determination to achieve.

I have never been a fan of Jose or his football.
However, I can deal with playing this way.
Yes we're defending most of the game but its organised defending. We look comfortable and in control. We could still be playing now and Arsenal wouldnt have scored. I actually find it easier to watch than going gung ho, 25 attempts but looking an absolute shit show at the back and dreading every corner and set piece.
Its not defending and hoping we get lucky. We know what we're doing. Everyone knows their job and are 100% behind this because the results speak for themselves.
We're ahead on goal difference ffs so that tells you everything you need to know.

Ultimately, it's not for me to tell you that you must enjoy this or mustn't enjoy that. We all have our preferences and that's the way it is - different strokes and all that.

However, the one thing you can be pulled up on is being reductive. To say that this is the only way Jose knows or wants to play is ding the man a very egregious disservice, because it is quite plain that any manager who only plays one way is a manager who wins little to nothing.

Likewise saying we've been fortunate can only be applied if things happened a very few times. We have been consistent. On the evidence of our results, it is quite clear we are very far from 'fortunate' and that, in fact, it has been Jose's knowledge and experience in analysing his opponent and deploying his resources that has got us to our current position at the top of the tree.

And thinking that in the case of an injury, our entire gameplan falls apart is again not acknowledging that Mourinho has been in that situation before and has still managed to deliver results. Unless you think that he's never had to face an injury crisis in a career that has netted more than 20 major football trophies...

Not liking something doesn't validate an erroneous analysis of it. I don't like most fish. But I don't say fish is crap just because I don't happen to like it. On the contrary, I think it's a very nutritious food. I just don't like it.

You might not like the dish Mourino is serving up but being reductive about it just makes you look like you have an agenda. Just be honest and say you don't like it. That's your prerogative and you don't need to justify it.

Admittedly, the year that Leicester won the league I levelled the same criticism their way, only replace Kane and Son with Vardy and Mahrez. Some of that was definitely sour grapes because we played the prettiest football in the league that year. Unfortunately for me then, and other fans now, playing nice football doesn't guarantee points, defending well usually guarantees you at least one.

if anything, we have been very unlucky with the games we didn't win

I’ve said I hate the way Jose’s teams play because it is anti football. I think the more he has been in the game the more he has learnt all of the negative tactics struggling teams have devised. He has found out with his time wasting tactics in the past. He would do anything to win a game. I just hate that. Every team bends the rules but his teams will bend all of them because he doesn’t care about the game - only winning. I love football.

I understand what your saying and I think its because we're fans, we'll enjoy the winning more than the spectacle. However if you were neutral you would probably take watching Leeds over us for example, no mater what your facts say.
Good job they’re not playing for the neutral then, just us.

I said it before, his Chelsea team was regarded as being boring by all but Chelsea fans. Neutrals want a spectacle, fans want goals and wins.

I love the fact that we are frustrating everyone by neutering them whilst we go and help ourselves to a couple of goals. The fact that it’s pissing off a number of fools I have zero respect for is just the icing on the cake.

Incidentally, Tony Adams describes our performance today as magnificent. He may not be much when it comes to coaching, but he knows what dominant defending looks like.

We just beat Arse 2-0 to go top of the table. And them to languish near the bottom. And people are still finding something to moan about. Jose knows that to be successful, you first off have to stop conceding... check, then you have to change the mentality... check, THEN, once that all becomes second nature, you can play with flair. We have always had poor mentality, poor defense, but played attacking football, that has pretty much won us NOTHING. Of course we know - because we have seen it already this season - we can absolutely hammer teams with good, attacking football, but we would still have that poor mentality. Jose's building us from the ground up.

Defending and organisational discipline is just as much a part of football as tika-taka and gung-ho, balls out attacking is. I'm genuinely interested in watching a side defend and enjoy doing it. I get the same feeling with Simeone's Atletico. And most of the history of Italian football is built around defending well. So, it's not "anti football". It's just not the football you wanna watch. So, why are you watching it?
