if liverpool can get away with playing mac allister as a 6 then no reason we can't with lo celso.

assuming lo celso is actually fit that is, which with his record ...

Definitely.

I think we'll pass through their midfield much more effectively with Lo Celso instead of PEH.

But we're at home, the superior team, let them worry more abous us than the other way round...that plays into their hands.

Set up to hurt them, not to contain them which takes away from our ability to actually hurt them - ironically.

Lo Celso has played as a six before to good affect.

He's braver on the ball and much more progressive than PEH.

This is going to be very, very difficult. If we aren't clinical in the final third this will end up like West ham.

Also dont want to sound to harsh on PEH but just because he’s not good on the ball in tight areas doesn’t mean he’s good off the ball. He ball watches, Players run off the back of him all the time, he gets played around easy. Even just going back to the wolves game you can see that.

Whichever way you slice it (who plays at 6 or 8) the best 3 midfielders we can put out are Sarr, Kulusevski, GLC. I would play Sarr as the 6 as he is so often helping out near the back anyway it is closest to his natural game

If we haven't scored by the time GLC runs out of steam then we deal with that then. Otherwise Skipp or PEH come on, hopefully just for extra energy to avoid conceding towards the end

I don't trust Sarr and Lo Celso together - not enough defensive discipline.

But PEH has defensive lapses rather often and that's why I don't want to see him as no.6 either (is better further up). So if not for Sarr / GLC, then time for Skipp to step up.

Vicario
Porro Romero Davies Emerson
Højbjerg
Sarr Kulu

Think this will be team selection.

That was the fullback selection against Wolves and Emerson struggled as the inverted back though

I personally think Porro would do a better job than Emerson on the left. Sure you lose his quality on the right but I think given his technical qualities he would provide better balance overall.

A midfield of Sarr, Lo Celso and Deki does not offer sufficient defensive cover.

It’s the kind of lineup you might try on FM or FIFA but I suspect Skipp or Hojbjerg will be in the team sheet.
I was thinking abt this, and considering that Royal won’t push as far up as Udogie does, and GLC is left footed, it might work in the sense that we want to dominate the ball and prevent their cm (gueye n obama n doucore) winning duels and go on the counter using their wingers (McNeil n Harrison) to swing in crosses for DCL

on the 3 alone it might not cos GLC doesn’t sprint back to cover Udogie, but if it’s Royal, it just might 🤔

Any news on Gio? Would be great to have him fit for this one.
