I’ve been happy to rip into Spurs when performances and fight have been abysmal but I really don’t think our performances and fight has been at all bad since the Chelsea match. The players are still playing for the coach, the football has picked up, players have been put back into the squad and the fight has been there. Recent performances have shown that results will improve very soon. Stupid individual mistakes are still happening but a couple of wins will hopefully iron this out as confidence improves. I really think we’ll finish this season strongly.

Why does sacking Jose set us back whatsoever. A manager is judged by whether they get the team to play at a greater level than the sum of their parts. On this he has failed completely and utterly. Unless you want to open up a billion pound war-chest for transfers I don't see what value he adds to the club. The argument that we don't have the players only stands up if you consider the problem to be solely that we concede too many goals because we have shit defenders. That's not solely the problem. We're also shit going forwards despite having outrageously talented forward options.

One, who would you replace him with? Another Sherwood or a Lampard? They'll take over mid-season which is almost always a recipe for disaster and then they'll go through the same rinse/repeat cycle where a discussion of new signings will come up and here we go again.

Agree with you that we do have problems defensively and our forwards are not playing to their potential... that's something Jose's gotta fix - no argument there.

it’s annoying coming on this forum recently to express views. While half of you are at each other’s throats or just being pricks to each other in general.

I'm not mad, tbh I'm Surprised (I'm not really) by the angry response seeing as everybody universally accepted that this was going to be a loss.

As I said in the match thread, I think our season starts now. We have Chelsea, Liverpool, City out the way and top4 is still possible.

We have some problem with chopping and changing the defence, that is not good. We need to pick a back 4 and stick with it, I'd certainly include Rodon.

I think it was smart to get Bale and dele minutes and have them back in. I know Bale hasnt worked out so far but I think we should just start him and see if we see an attitude shift if we give him the confidence of starting. We saw it with Ndombele in the documentary he was devoid of confidence and kept talking about not starting games and look at him now. I'd be looking to do the same with Bale, maybe his attitude doesn't warrant it but his quality does and I hope the attitude follows.

I thought the game today the defensive shape was fine in first half and we got undone by a clumsy pen and then paper wrists. I think theres elements can build on, I know it doesn't feel like that but if we just continue with Hojbjerg and Ndombele, go with a front 4 which I hope in the long run includes Lo Celso and Bale and go with a consistent defence we can begin to turn shit around.

No doubt City are much much better than us, and deservedly won easily. But what I can't abide, is them not having to get out of 3rd gear, just waiting for our fuck ups. Which of course we did.

So predictable.
I thought it was more like City being on tick over

Whose this 'Goondygan' fella Redknapp is wetting himself about?
Chatting out of his arse as always.

Trying to say Mourinho is relying on Dele and Gareth to bale him out when he’s ”treated them badly.”

They are grown men, paid stupid money, and they simply haven’t been picked to play for a football team. Boohoo.

And the sarcasm aswell, honestly I want to have a good debate but it's honestly difficult with the vast majority of shit in here.

Can you genuinely name one thing that Mourinho has improved in an individual player or our tactics or our attacking patterns or anything?

I can literally only say that Ndombele is fitter. That’s it.

Players in their late 20s who have been on a noticeable decline for years generally don’t improve much.

But you know this already.

There's no shame in losing to this City team. Since we last played them Pep learned how to shut down counter attacks by always having 5 players behind the ball and having his most flexible players on the pitch so they can rotate around to keep those numbers.

That said how Jose looked at that and said "welp our only option I'm is to sit back and counter" is just so sad it's not even pathetic. He's just been retreating more and more into his worst form it's annoying how much 3rd year things fall apart Jose we're getting at the moment.

We're just not very good, we're kidding ourselves otherwise as much as I wanted big dav to have a stormer he's just not top quality and will always let you down ,diers big loopy header cause another goal as usual every goal conceded was a mistake either back Jose or get rid, but whoever takes this poisoned chalice needs big big backing

‘if’ Jose goes his replacement needs to be someone who will play to the players strengths and not try to get them to do the polar opposite of the way they like to play. Asking them to press and work hard is to be expected but asking them to be play defensive every game is a recipe for disaster.

yeah hopefully we stay in the top half of the table
We've been on a winning run, and obviously a losing run this season. It could change again, I'm hopeful that we'll put together a good run all the way to mid April. There's also Europe League which I take as a welcome distraction now. I'm not saying I'm 80% confident that's how things will go, but I do think that we don't really know what is yet to come. Can we put a winning streak together? I think that's plausible.
