I'm not defending the players at all because I would happily have half of them fuck off, but does anyone actually look at those West Ham defenders and think they're better than ours? I think it's pretty obvious that they're benefiting from a well coached, drilled defensive structure, which is exactly what Moyes is paid to do.

Do you not think he would love to have Skriniar or another top defender as much as Mourinho would? As any manager would? You can only work with what you have, some don't have the luxury to keep spending millions on a new backline.

The thing with Bale/Alli is that they will look good in a team that plays on the front foot.

They usually don’t suit Jose as we’re usually retreating and they fail to defend as well as some of the other forwards, who create next to nothing.

It sums up Jose in a nutshell.

If you put Jose to one side and you look at the pros and cons of the players within our squad the pros will massively outweigh the cons.

However, once you add Jose to the equation and take into account his favourites, tactics, dislike of certain players and in game management you suddenly have players who had a couple of areas to work on looking like a train wreck.

Lloris - errors are creeping into his game again
Dier - atrocious
Sanchez - atrocious
Doherty - comical
Davies - can’t pass for toffee
Winks - regressed at light speed
Sissoko - our once player on the season has reverted back to stealing a living
Alli - fallen off a cliff
Moura - either decent or more often than not abysmal
Bergwijn - zero end product
Son - been crap for over a month now
Vinicius - even when we need a goal he still can’t get on the pitch despite contributing goals in cup competitions
Bale - taken till Thursday before he finally turned up

We’ve now got more issues with our squad than I think we could ever imagine. On paper we should be in the top 4 but instead we look like lower to mid table cannon fodder.

Hojbjerg, Ndombele plus any of Lamela, Alli, Moura, Bale, Son, Bergwijn, Kane and Vinicius should be terrifying the opposition but they’re instead expected to chase shadows all game due to Jose’s dull outdated tactics.

The only thing that would cheer me up right now would be some ITK that JM is on way his way.
That wouldn't cheer me up, that would begin yet another turbulent period for us, doubts over key players, no manger, doubt over the quality of the next higher, playing squad fill with sub standard players in the midst of a pandemic ... The list is endless. Cutting the tail off a dying horse is very very Spurs - and before you say it's a start - it just appeases those who don't like the man in charge, it doesn't change anything else.

Didn’t he get sacked the year we were challenging Leicester?
Weird counter factual anyway. Mourinho’s got enough pedigree not to need this kind of false boosting.

Don't get me wrong, he's not free of blame. I know when he joined he said the squad was good enough but I bet if he was asked now if that was true he'd probably say no, albeit maybe privately and not publicly.

The way they managed to get 2 corners from throw ins made us look like a complete joke.

If we don’t give bale another season I’ll seriously never forgive Jose for ruining his comeback to this club

Imagine if we get a stadium full of fans belting out his name at the top of their voices. He's find an extra couple of yards of pace out of nowhere.

Worse form than when the last manager got sacked.

Can’t see Levy doing it but would be entirely justified.

Didn't get to see the game today, so I can't comment on the way we played etc.

But I'm confused. A few weeks ago we had quite a few on here stating that they'd be much happier if they saw us with some attacking intent, even if we lost more. Well I've checked the Premier League website who show that we dominated every measurable stat except the final score. They had 4 shots, all on target, we had 20 with 7 on target. We dominated possession almost 70/30, had more corners, better territory, better xG, better everything except goals

Yet those same people who claimed they'd be happy to see this kind of attacking intent, even if we lost, are the ones on here screaming once again for the managers head.

Surely you must be happy now? He's doing exactly what you wanted isn't he?

I mean, God forbid there could ever be an agenda here...

Dier has terrible positional sense from being moved back and forth from CB and DM and he can't defend the cross

He looks like Phil Jones right now

Still trying to fathom how Kane/Son didn’t score that chance. Surely Kane would have been better taking the shot?

One of those moves were it opened up so much and then in a split second it closed. If he squared it a second early might have been the difference but think he did the right thing

For those keeping score that's another game where we've shipped goals in the opening minutes of yet another football match either to start the game or directly after half time.

The players once again having excuses made for them in some quarters when clearly they've gone out with the early instructions and failed to do their job.

If the manager stops picking them and then people can stop making excuses for them and everyone would be happier.

I don't want to knock you but:

Injustice if we get nothing from this = "It would be" (redundancy) injustice if we get nothing from this - a mixed conditional.

In the same way:

"It would be" (redundancy) consequence if we get nothing from this - the same type of mixed conditional.

I used the word consequence in an uncountable way.

Still I think both are true (y)
I think you mean consequential perhaps? But now we’re getting into semantics.

This is one of those scenarios where we will feel 'what could have been'

I do think Jose has mis-managed him. He should've been getting on the pitch every game, just to allow him to get sharp and push himself. He'd get 60 mins vs Stoke and then not play any return mins in the league - players can't just magically turn it on.

Now he's been trusted more frequently, he's showing his class and we've desperately needed that edge recently yet we haven't taken advantage of it at all. If we'd had this Bale earlier when we were operating with a defensive plan, I feel we'd have got more moments from him to carry us forward. instead he spent most of the time on the bench whilst we squeezed out a 1-0 win.

He'd have been ready for the new year and the second half of the season like most expected.

I have a feeling Levy is not happy with this either as he didn't bring Bale back to sit and wait for game time. His vision would have been Kane, Son & Bale with Alli floating. Yet we have rarely seen that. You could defend it if we were 3rd and results were good but in that time we've dropped to 9th and are losing most weeks.

Leicester r playing football we can only dream of right now. Anyone thinking Rodgers would come to us is dreaming. I havent seen leicester pass the ball backwards yet.
