Tactics were so naive today.

And setup. 2 of ours in CM are never going to cope with their energy and desire. As a result, we had no wide cover, or if we did, they just came straight through the middle. Dele had a decent game but we needed an extra CM to cope with them.

This reminded me of pre Poch Spurs, so soft and weak under the cosh. We need to be the Leeds of the top 6 to compete for top 4.

We need the Tangangas, Skippy's and Rodon's to be drafted in next season.

We were like this in Poch's first season a lot too. Performance and results all over the place.

We knew though that we had some players unmotivated and not fit enough for Poch's demands.

Mason's mistake today, and we can't really point the finger at him for trying, was thinking an all out attack would work because you have to make sure you get to second balls quicker and swarm the opposition.

Unfortunately, too many players lack the fitness and motivation to go toe-to-toe with a team like Bielsa's. This isn't Mason's fault, it's everything that's come before him.

Ive said this before and i keep reminding myself of what Poch said but never really registered in my mind till this season - we need to compete... it didnt really occur to me what he meant until watching us on several ocassions and the make up of this team...

We dont compete... we are a stale team and stale club - when people think oh Kane wont go - he sees that and it is a problem... we didnt compete today and we havent competed on several ocassions - that to me is stale and us reaching the end with a 'painful' rebuild needed which someone had once warned.

What hurts the most is the hope I had once Jose was jettisoned. I really hoped the players could get their shit together for FOUR games and we could really try for top 4. Sigh. It’s the hope that kills you

The problem is that he’s not the quickest across the ground too. We need a midfielder there who can cover all the gaps and has real legs.

You're having a bubble.

He's literally everything you've said he's not. We do not have a more complete midfielder in our squad.

The lad does it all.

The players have their shit together, the problem is that a lot of them simply isn't good enough. The fact that we sacked both Pochettino and Mourinho and yet people still somehow think these players will magically start performing with yet another manager is so frustrating to me.

Talks of being brave and playing Alli and Bale. It was so extremly predictable that Mason would do this when hired. The result is the most naive tactics ever.

I didn’t think Dele did. He made a couple of passes in the final third (1 deflected to a scoring pass the other to a off-side player) but was typically poor otherwise. He struggles to kick the ball over 30 yards, had no real pace and cannot take anyone on. He has scored a goals ghosting in on the early crosses which we don’t seem to do anymore.

Maybe 'decent' was the wrong word, but the bar is pretty damn low at the moment.
