The game was lost with that approach to the 2nd half, not the the shootout. Sitting back and inviting pressure was never going to work against a side as good as Italy

Baffles me how the biggest penalty in England’s history is left to a 19 year old, a more experienced head should’ve taken responsibility. Really feel for the lad, and the abhorrent abuse already being sent his way by subhuman scum is utterly disgusting. Add in the scenes at Leicester Square, before the game at Wembley and now after the match it really makes me ashamed to be English

How the fuck is this even a talking point.
Everything is a talking point nowadays.

But a manager who has taken us to a semi final then a final and has 1 year until the next tournament with no obvious replacement in sight is clearly not looking at the sack.

Just feel like we’ll never have a better chance to win a trophy like we did this tournament.

90% of games at Wembley
France getting knocked out
Leading the final at half-time
Penalties at Home end
Leading in penalties
Saving the penalty master Jorginho

:(

Southgate said after the Germany game that if he’d have played them negative tactics and lost he’d be dead. Well Gareth, here we are. You played them tactics again and we lost so…

Bar Germany, I’m quite convinced England could’ve thrashed every team they’ve faced this tournament had Southgate had a less pragmatic, more Mancini-esque approach and trusted the attacking ability of his players. If we’re honest, a combined 11 of the two teams today would’ve starred far more English players than Italian ones, yet England was defending deeper until 1-1 than Denmark were when they faced England.

As soon as Grealish comes on and England starts attacking, there are very few teams in this tournament that look more deadly.
Yea makes it even more odd why southgate didnt play him more. He really is world class and Kane comes alive when Jack is on.

Southgate has more than earned the right to lead us into the world cup.

Whether he stays further than that is down to him and whether he can improve his in-game management.

Firstly, he said that about the Germany round of sixteen game not the final of the damn thing.

Secondly, lol.

Southgate's tactics, unsurprisingly, were pragmatic AF, but it was ultimately a sloppy set piece that was out undoing tonight. At no point aside from a single Chiesa run, did it actually feel like italy were ever going to score.

Was that our fault for inviting pressure upon ourselves, or simply bad luck?

Oh that's alright then. Fucking embarrassing the way people have been behaving but yeah a winking emoji means it's all a joke rather than just people acting like fucking ****s.
