Happy to disclose my source to the mods for this, but have it on good authority there was a naming rights deal 99% done pre-pandemic, although I don't know the company. And the terms being discussed were groundbreaking, higher than some of the numbers reported in the press.

Unfortunately for Spurs, it was terrible optics for a company to sign a naming rights deal when millions were losing their jobs, so the deal collapsed due to COVID. So maybe that deal is revived, and the one being referenced here.

As part of their new environmental initiative, the Starbucks Stadium will feature strictly no cups, with visitors encouraged to bring their own.

I guess this would tie in with Herc and H88's ITK about there being a 'surprise' around the corner? Seems like it's been in the offing for a while and just about announcing it at the right time.

Man this would be such a lift to get in place. Hope there’s something to it.

You're not wrong (y)

The problem is, it's also transfer season.

Announcing a deal that suggests hundreds of millions of pounds are inbound, would mean clubs we wish to buy from would instantly jack up their prices because they'd know about the cash injection.

Maybe we hope Paratici can get deals agreed (even if just in principal) before we announce the naming rights deal?

Here in the US, The dolphins were paid a little over 13 million a year (250m USD over 18 years) from Hard Rock for the sponsorship agreement. We hired the guy who did that deal, so getting 25-30m a year would be absolutely insane!

So that's City, United, Liverpool, Leicester and Chelsea doing just that to rub our noses in it.

Wondering if it could by crypto/fintech related. Coinbase or something. FTX just did a naming rights deal for the Miami Heat's stadium.

Hard to compare that one, as that stadium is 35 yrs old and not thought highly of.
