Think Koulibaly as an experienced CB would make sense alongside Romero. However we are not paying £35m for a 30 year old imo. He has 2 years on his contract so don't know how flexible Napoli would be in a negotiation but going by past history they don't really budge. Also got to bear in mind he would probably go to the AFCON with Senegal in January so we'd lose him for that period

This deal is reminding me on the Skriniar talks. Either we pay up or move on. The season starts in less than 3 weeks and we currently have Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga and Rodon as first choice options against City.
We need to get a move on.

Koulibaly is always one player I've never understood the hype with?!

At his peak he was top 3 centre backs in world football imo - the way he had Messi in his pocket when Napoli played Barce in the CL is one of the best centre back performances I’ve seen in recent years. He’s on the decline now but as an experienced option I think we should be all over it.

Ive not really been overly bothered with the transfers this summer although i should really - think the Euros then the Olympics - no breather whatsoever.... anyways my point here is... sometimes you just have to pay what is asked for a position of priority and huge importance. Just fucking do it.

I perhaps expect negotiations for other areas but when its a defence that is poor and we need to strengthen, just fucking do it will you

Romero and Milenković would be fantastic, if he’s available at €15m we should be all over that as well as Romero. Basically new defence for circa £80-90m is great business considering Kounde is around the same cost alone give or take
I agree especially if it leaves enough for a forward like Vlahovic. Only chance of getting all these players would be to sell Kane but I'd rather keep him.

35m for an experienced 30 year old still playing at a high level to herald the (very) young defense for 3-4 years isn't as bad as it sounds :cautious:
Actually, it sounds very smart. Who knows? Maybe even Dier could learn a trick or two with him by his side. But, it does provide a really solid core/spine for the team to build around. Now, unlike Kounde, this is not a player I mind only being around for two or three seasons. As their primary job (outside of kicking ass and taking names), would be to add leadership and experience to a backline consisting of some pretty young, but very promising players: Japhet, Tomiyasu, Rodon, and Romero (God willing!).

He + Romero in a back four, is CL material.

In a strange way, he may be exactly what we need in the short-to-mid-term.

Yep and every day I am more convinced it ends the same way. Im pretty sure the ITK around the same time with Skriniar was very positive too.

Am I correct in assuming that we would expect to see an announcement stating Atalanta have taken advantage of the loan option to purchase Romero before we can then have our offer accepted or could there be some sort of arrangement in which we would pay Juventus the Atalanta agreed purchase price (€16m) and then just hand over the outstanding balance ??
The reason I ask is that maybe the money for Toby is currently headed to Fabio's old club with another €3m from Spurs in order to avoid delaying the transfer any longer in which case we should hear something positive very soon.

The problem with moving on will be cheap shit options like Zouma Milinkovic Vestergaard etc

The little midget will be happy though
