Alasdair Golds latest article:

While his (Traore) arrival would seem to block the path of at least one or two of the other wingers that include Bergwijn, who pulled off a sublime bit of skill before setting up Kane for a big chance in a good performance, Lucas Moura or new signing Bryan Gil, there is also the option mooted within the club that he instead replaces Son's position as a winger in order to push the latter further up the pitch.

Hmmm. This bit is concerning. Why push Son further up? Who might we be losing to create that space?

I really like the idea of Traore, but instead of a striker? That sounds like a bad idea. We saw yesterday that Son's inability to hold the ball up was causing us problems. We can't have Kane as the only player in the squad capable of holding the line.

I think we're fine at left back, and we can get by at centre back but our right back options are so weak.

As for midfield, we're desperately short of creativity. Can't believe that Nuno and Paratici haven't noticed this, so I really hope Ali G is off the mark with this.

I get it from a financial perspective, but surely we can't just refuse to sign anyone because we can't sell the players we want to. Otherwise are we just going to wait until all their contracts expire before we do anything?

Moriba has the same birthday as Steffen Freund, Dolly Parton, and me.

On that basis I think he’s probably a top bloke.

Or a massive tit.

Back on topic though, does seem like we are going all in on the rebuild with these younger players. Reminds me of the Martin Jol days.

Aaaand we seem to be down to 1 or 2 directly in. And that is a huge risk we are taking...

Our only hope seems to be we somehow get rid by a miracle of some outcasts.

Not unsurprising though is it. We have left ourselves a lot of work to do. But, it sounds like the last week is going to be manic for everyone so who is to say that a few good deals (in and out) wont present themselves.

Not a good update the more I think of it.

I'm a Traore fan but we need a proper backup striker/competition for kane.

If the budget is tight then spending 40 million on a winger is madness.

Plus the midfield is desperately light in presence as we saw on Thursday.

Tbf if a striker of genuine quality (Martinez/Vlahovic) isn’t achievable then I’m not against signing a first XI winger and Son moving up front regularly. He’s better than most strikers in the league despite it not being his foremost position anyway.

I think we were good yesterday but we really lacked a presence up front.

If kane is staying fair enough but I like a player who can hold the ball up. Especially if were counter attacking.

Let's remember though. Now isn't the time to be releasing info via Ally Gold that we have got loads of money and have loads of deals lined up. Surely the last week of the window is the biggest poker game of the whole summer. We have just got to hope the club have it under control.

If Kane is staying, a back up striker is unlikely to get many opportunities, it doesn't bother me too much. We had no striker against City and won, and have Scarlett who's clearly staying around. I'm really torn on the Traore front, could be a great addition, but am concerned by another player who's end product is pretty hit and miss.
