If you want me to "enjoy" being a nearly club, then get your mate Daniel to charge me fucking "nearly" prices for my Platinum STH.

Give up your ST then. ?

PS: I'm not being flippant. I just see that you, and people who feel the same as you have 2 choices. Continue paying it and continue going to games. Or don't.

Moaning about it won't change anything.

Troy Deeney just joined his boyhood club, Birmingham City and publicly ridiculed Arsenal, not sure how you've come to the conclusion he's Arsenal

<facepalm>I swear I read something years ago that he was... thanks for pointing that out </facepalm>

Re the Japanese lad v Emerson. I sit here and ponder whether it was a financial decision v a football one. The Barcelona fire sale offering better terms than the Japanese lad @ Bologna
Takehiro Tomiyasu. It's not hard to google it. Can we stop disrespecting foreign names because of our own laziness/ignorance please!

I think this is an "Allright" window. We've added some good players and players with potential. My main reason for this is because of Nuno. The team is already looking like a TEAM and playing as such.
Yes we could have added another forward to help ease the burden on Kane and Son but it's time for Bergwin and others to up their contribution with goals too.

Seriously i do wonder about people on here. Firstly there is no proof that Levy has stopped any deal bar one ITK post which, whilst in all good faith COULD be slightly inaccurate or biased in some way. Secondly, nobody on here has a clue about what deals were, or were not in the pipeline anyway. Thirdly of those deals, nobody knows what the selling clubs were asking AND, more importantly HOW they wanted to be paid. Finally, nobody on here knows the current financial position of the club with regards to commitments and revenue forecasts.

If you take all these unknowns and add them together i cannot see how anyone can get so bent out of shape about anything they read on here.

IF Levy said no to the deal with Wolves, it may be because they want a large portion, or all, of the c£45m upfront. Levy may have budgeted that amount but is unable to sanction it all in one year. He would then have a duty to the club and shareholders not to push the in-year spend above their operating budget. By doing so he may jeopardise the clubs credit rating and impact the ability to "re-mortgage" the loan debt that they are constantly trying to rebalance. Look at the Ronaldo deal. Utd are paying c£18m for him over FIVE years. Utd have way more cash coming in than Spurs and even they wont front up £12m in one year.

However disappointing you think the window is, it has to be in context with the club you support. Tottenham do not have huge sums of money to play with and if we cannot structure a deal within our means we should not risk the future accounts. At the end of the day we have found a potential long-term replacement for Hugo before he leaves next season on a free. We have upgraded our RB position which was one of the weakest positions last season. We have strengthened our CB position by replacing Toby with a younger model. We have refreshed the CM by bringing Skipp back and releasing Sissoko. We have brought in the talented Gil (who will play more than most think), we have brought in an exciting young CM for the future, kept our talisman, signed Son up to a new contract and replaced a manager who was not supported by the fans or the players. That is not a bad summers work. No there is no replacement for Vinicius (but did he offer more than Scarlett could do this season? I dont think so) and no we haven't replaced Bale directly but between Gil, Berg and Lucas could they not fill that goal/assist tally? Probably.

We are Tottenham, not City or Utd or Chelsea, we cannot compete with them in regards to dealing in the market and if we compare our transfer dealings and squads to them we will always be disappointed. We need to be looking at clubs like Leicester who are able to scout and develop players into those of "top 4" quality. We will be a nearly club until we get lucky or get sold, we have to live with that fact and just enjoy the ride......or get off.

Good post, stands up well until Levy decides to sack another manager for "underachieving"

Personally I like the fact we go for a more natural RB who would also be suited to a back 5 if needed. Tomiyasu sounds very similar to Tanganga so especially for the games against teams that sit back a more attacking full back makes sense.

As much as I am annoyed we leave ourselves short up front I am pleased with this.

Issue with this window is no back up striker. I’d be really happy if we’d brought a Kane deputy in.

Yeah thats fair but I guess none of us really know the dynamic of how shit goes down. For all we know that is how it’s done and when it comes to say Traore he’s gone a bit over budget or something or not, obviously. I mean, it’s not like we haven’t laid out some serious money on Romero and Gill, I know we’ve recouped a bit as well.

After Covid and shit I pretty much ruled off this transfer window as I expected our budget to be non existent so while I don’t think this has been the greatest window ever considering the shit going on in the world I didn’t think it’s been too bad either.
It's not the quality of the window that's the issue, though, buddy. It's the fact that it's inappropriate for Levy to directly involve himself in the way he reportedly has today. It's part of our terrible inertia when it came to signings in the past and the noises we were hearing (whether we believed it or not) was that he was going to withdraw from the football side of things, an arena he knows nothing about.

Levy's job should be to set the budget and nothing else. One relatively successful window (if one concedes that point, although I don't, but that's a different discussion) is blown away as mitigation when compared to still not grasping after twenty years that he is not equipped to make these kinds of decisions.

Surely that's why he hired Paratici. It's in the job title: Paratici's official job title is Managing Director Football; it's not Managing Director of Football (Except When Levy Feels Itchy About a Deal).

Rather know now that we're done than stay up past midnight only to find out we've signed Danny Murphy

I don't even understand why it's either the eye watering Traore amount or nothing. Paratici was meant to be the remedy to it always coming down to either a deal like Traore or nothing and had multiple things in the pipeline.

There's nothing wrong with any of the signings we've made, and there's nothing to lament about any of the players we've left go (possible exceptions for Foyth and Cirkin)

The issue is that we don't appear to have balanced the squad, or filled holes which have been glaringly obvious for some time.

On that basis I think we're perfectly entitled to feel underwhelmed and somewhat aggrieved at the way this window has panned out.

We paid more money for Emerson than Tomiyasu would have cost? Also Emerson is a better fit for what we need.
