Just got home and was quietly impressed with pretty much the whole team, although Kane is still not quite right.

Decent atmosphere in the South Lower as well without too many coke head idiots which was nice! :cautious:

Agree, although to be fair Sanchez was decent first few games this season. When we have the others like Doherty and Winks in we just look flat, a lot of play safe football, no creativity and not very strong defensively. The midfield today against Villa was much more balanced.
He did but I also feel when he gets isolated he panics and is all over the place. Romero won't allow that as he steps up and Dier is a bit calmer.

I think we need to look at bringing in another CB with the goal of partnering Romero and selling Sanchez. Rodon may step up too.

I think Nuno will settle on this 11 or close to it in the near future. PEH needs another battler alongside him in this team, it may take away a little creativity but we get completely overrun when we play 2 more offensive players next to him

It might take away a little creativity in the middle but I think it allows the two full backs to push further up which makes up for it a bit.
Like you, I do think we need a bit more depth there but it took us long enough to play a decent CB so I'm just happy to have Skipp and Pierre together there.

He’s a WUM. Ignore
Agree.
Possibly the best team performance we've seen yet this season and he's digging out one of the youngest members of the squad.
Ok, we all got a bit burnt with our opinion of Winks in the early days, who obviously didn't push on but Skipp has so much more to his game.
Just enjoy the moment and enjoy the fact that we've got another youngster showing promise.

What impressed me most?................Not the result.............The aggression that the players showed, they had no intention of being bullied. Well done lads.

Kane only has himself to blame.

If he'd come back when he was supposed to and focused on his game, he'd be sharper faster. No doubt he's become pyschologically effected. His advisors should have been giving him that warning but we're obviously more concerned with trying to make the club's position weaker.

Having said that, one goal probably sorts him out.

PEH and Royal pretty huge. Kane still playing deeper which might make spacing tricky for Ndombele, GLC (he looks fine with Kane) and Dele.

But look how many lines we had today, so much harder to play against for other teams than a flat 433. Nuno has had a lot of deserve stick but he got it right today.

In an ideal world we need a midfielder who has the work rate and can dictate play to play along side PEH or Skipp. Maybe the new guy who we loaned back to the french side (name and team I can’t remember ?) can help with this? Don’t know a lot about him to be honest

I remember the exact moment in the match (minute 15) when I noticed how "up for it" everyone was. Tackles flying in left right and centre, winning consecutive 50/50's, and runners in every direction.

We weren't perfect today, finishing left a lot to be desired, but it was probably the happiest I've been after a PL game in a long time.

We didn't play a three midfield though. We had a Skipp-PEH double pivot, with the three of Son - Ndombele/GLC - Moura in front of them. It was vastly better than the previous five games barring Man City. We competed throughout and mostly won the midfield battle.
You're joking right? Our midfield was non existent in the first half. No one showed. Sonny totally dug us out today. Midfield improved vastly once Tanguy went off.

I'd hoped banging in a hat trick the other night might have helped and he definitely seemed to work harder today but his first touch and weight of pass just wasn't there. Also, that attempt to score from the line when he could have passed it out to either Son or (I think) Lo Celso was downright criminal.

Like the rest of the team, it's hopefully however forward progress.

There was a part early on where one of the defenders (I think Romero) was basically asking someone to come and get the ball of him and neither PEH or Ndombele moved at all.

The major difference between us and Villa today was Son, he was absolutely untouchable today and made all the difference.

Kane was fine. He's still capable of touches and invention that wouldn't occur to others. He created what would have been a goal of season contender had Celso finished it.

Just on the way home from the game. I thought we made them look fairly average and had we taken quite a few good chances we could have won by three of four goals. Villa are no mugs yet we made them look fairly average.
Nice one mate, atmosphere was good too.
As you say Villa are a decent side and we made them look average so great stuff today.

Andy Gray also said he was astounded that there were as he thinks Lewis and Levy have been incredble for spurs. Couldn’t understand how there could be dissent when we have the best stadium in the world…Shows how out of touch he is.
Gray is a wanker. Out of touch fat silly wanker who along with his hairy dickhead mate will never be on British television again.

I can't undertand Ndombele's positioning. So often he was wide or across a front 3.

He needs to be in the middle. In front of the pivot and, more importantly, deeper than the front 3. A 4-2-1-3 for example. He's just wasted otherwise.
