On one hand I feel for Nuno. After the shambles in the summer he was clearly down the list of preferred managers and never got the support of the fans or frankly the senior management who I feel were going ahead with transfers of players into the club, but tellingly also who was allowed to leave (and who didn't leave). Ultimately it's left Nuno with a fractured squad with a number of players who we know are toxic to the environment and should have been sold years ago.
On the other hand - he has played drab boring defensive football, showed limited tactical nous and his substitutions are baffling. Additionally, his reason for leaving Wolves was allegedly down to mental health / burnout etc. If that's the case then there's no way he should have accepted the job and should have gone for the time out he needed. Ultimately it's cost him his job, his health, pissed off the fans, created a dour atmosphere and left many fans completely disconnected from the club. The Kane debacle would have been tough for a lot of managers and we don't know how Nuno dealt with it, but it feels like a manager with more balls would have dropped him by now to the benefit of the rest of the team.
It was never going to work and i'm fucked off with Levy & Co for sanctioning it in the first place. Instead of a shit kneejerk appointment they should have kept on with a caretaker until the right person was available. Hopefully that person will be announced this week - but I have zero faith in Levy to get it right.
Stop feeling for him. He gets to pocket millions of pounds and fuck off to portugal.
