I really wouldn't get your hopes up for the January transfer window. It's notorously difficult to do business in. And I'm sure any business woud be reliant on us shipping a few out first - which isn't going to be easy with clubs still feeling the economic fallout from the pandemic.

Flipping heck JS.

You're in a proper pooing on people's excitement mood today.

I look forward to the next thread I enter, to discover someone else has said something you want to poo poo.

Good times.

So is a traffic cone ?

I genuinely can not recall a worse footballer in a spurs shirt than docherty and I've been a fan since the whole world was in black and white truly awful ?
If you 'genuinely' haven't seen a worse footballer play for Spurs than Doherty then you haven't been paying attention. It's always the way though. The current worst is the worst ever, the latest loss is always the worst performance someone has ever seen etc etc

More often than not the 'worst', subjective as it is, just isn't :D

But this thread is the Conte thread so we really don't need this discussion in here. If someone really has the hots for it, start a thread?

football.london understands that one key element that has impressed the Spurs players has been Conte's and his staff's communication with them, including explaining fully to every individual why they are or are not in the starting line-up on each occasion and if not what the plans for them are in the future.

FINALLY

Apologies if this has already been posted...I found it interesting anyway.

Thanks that was good.

Among other things, we definitely need some good ball-playing and ball-carrying CBs. Makes you wonder if Conte would ever consider PEH to play in a back 3 for this reason (until we can sign a proper CB)?

Thought that would be obvious.

I do sometimes wonder about football; seems to be a lot of average/poor managers at the top of this multi-billion pound industry.

I just question the idea of not having good communication with your team. I know some fans go well it's football you get on with it 110% in training bla bla stiff upper lip all that but I think it's nonsense. These guys are humans and we humans are typically quite fragile mentally and surely in a football team you benefit from letting players know what they need to improve, how you plan on using them, why you've chosen different options this week and how to go about getting back in the team.

I remember hearing that fergy would tell a player, listen you're gonna be on the bench for a few games but when we get to this period, I'm counting on you to make the difference. Not just bombing them out the team/freezing them out or any shit like that. Just making players feel there training means something and they have value. It shouldn't be as hard as our recent managers have made it.

Good video, I really like this kind of punditry where they focus on the good things that teams do, why they are creating certain chances etc. Too often you’ll get pundits that solely focus on the defenders making mistakes, constant negative coverage is really boring. I want to see why teams are good at attacking, not have Roy Keane and Graham Souness arguing over a defender not stopping a cross.

Completely agree, and quite surprised by the detailed analysis considering there weren't many clear chances created in that game. Nonetheless, nice to see some of Conte's ideas in practice with WBs and CBs pushing high and causing problems for their defenders/formation. With time and repetition I think his ideas will really come to fruition and we'll be a lot less reliant on moments of individual brilliance to create chances and score goals.

My only problem with that video is that Warnock said we "caused problems for them throughout" and that simply is not true. The three or four clips he showed was about the only half decent attacks we had in the entire game and they resulted in half chances for defenders who are not very adept at scoring goals. We did not create a single chance for any of our attackers. Also, in all those clips they always had numbers in their box. We were too slow and ponderous moving the ball and this allowed them to regroup time and time again. Poor execution of a good plan.

Totally get your point about Keane and Souness who only ever get angry about a lack of fire and strong tackles and do not offer any real tactical insight at all.

This article also by sky sports is a good accompaniment to that video.

Against Everton we ran 10kms more as a team than against Man Utd the previous game. With the second highest amount of sprints over the weekend after Leeds out of all the teams. We’ll definitely like to see our players putting the yards in.

It will be interesting to see whether the majority of the players who are here training with Conte will be starting against Leeds. They will have had two weeks of hardcore training in a Conte system. Players like Dele, Lucas, Ndombele et al. Im not saying all who are here but the majority. Ofcourse Kane, Son and Romero will be in the team.
