Honestly I'm still not sure why we're going for Diaz if it's true and we genuinely have upwards of £40m to spend on one player. We have serious squad needs and seem to be permanently obsessed with spending buckets on left-wingers for no apparent reason.

Hate to be a downer and will of course be excited to see what happens if he signs but personally would much rather we spent the money on real positions of need rather than chucking it all on a guy who is not only a risk but also plays in our most well-stocked position and would involve moving our second best player to the right hand side, where he's nowhere near as effective.

Also not sure how well he fits ahead of Reguilon in a 3-4-3 as he tends to stay very wide and Reguilon isn't a particularly good underlapping full-back.

Has it been mentioned if Diaz in addition to Adama or instead of. I can assume it’s instead of unless we think a couple of attacking players are about to be sold such as Bergwijn and Dele

You know for me if the Spurs sign no one else but Diaz this January, it is considered a very good January transfer window already. This guy is MVP/player of the year material. His ceiling is that high. And yes he can play striker for sure. So 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 fit him easily.

For Colombia he plays as AML in 4-4-2 mostly. But he is similar to Mbappe in that you can play him upfront (like Mbappe this season) and he will still look good.

I'm actually at the point now where I dont really engage too much in the windows. If we get a player, great, if not, what can you do.

Seems an exciting player, but I certainly won't be holding my breath.

I'm reading between the lines here and basically guessing, as let's be honest the vast majority don't have the first clue what's actually happening with our transfer targets... but I reckon we had earmarked a decent fee for Vlahovic to come in the summer as a high quality forward to rotate with Kane and Son. If it is becoming clear that Vlahovic is now going to Juve and not us, we've now moved onto our next big target for one of the forward positions and that's Diaz.

IMO no chance we buy him, but if we do he will play in Lautaro Martinez role as second striker.

‪I do love Ally and his videos - but this one he’s just released does feel a bit like a propaganda video for Luis Diaz. From what I’ve seen he does look a good player, but until this season his stats are not amazing. So he’s yet to have one full stand out year. Not quite sure this is the ‬landmark signing he keeps claiming throughout the video. Feels a bit like he’s been asked to big it up.

Of course. That’s why I thought it was a weird suggestion that Diaz would be play alongside Kane as a second striker.
No, he would play with Son as a second striker.
"We have an important number nine for sure but in the past I have seen that Son played in this position. Honestly I prefer Son to play as a number 10 but in the position that he is now playing.

"I like to have a point of reference as number nine. Steven is working and we are utilising him also in this position, in the three positions of the striker, but Steven could be a good option on the day that I want to give a rest to Harry."
He likes to play with 2 10s and one 9, except his 10 and 9 are reversed to what people normally think, which is why Son is always way more forward than Kane in pass maps.

Whatever formation they play we need more depth for rotation. Son and Kane can't play every game - look at us right now with Son out, Kane can't do it on his own as the likes of Lucas and Bergwijn aren't prolific. We had so little threat against Chelsea.

I’d seen a few videos earlier in the transfer window which had me feeling he is all about direct dribbling and nothing else with his teammates struggling to figure out where he will go next. I’ve since seen some more videos and analysis that show just how lethal a finisher he is from edge of box and how ridiculously good he seems to be at getting out of tight spaces. He’s also RAPID. I am now fully prepared to be disappointed if we don’t sign. Haha.

Imagine Diaz, Son and Traore running at defences with Kane picking up the scraps. Terrifying! (For the defence). We just need to make sure we get the ball quickly to these guys in some good space. CMs will have to think quickly. Note, Amrabat has a decent long ball on him.

If he’s as good as everyone says he is then it makes perfect sense to go for him now if we have a clear run at him. We need more goals in the team. He sounds pretty creative too of course. It’s the kind of opportune signing I’m on board for. It’s the opportune ones where the players are average that always pisses me off because they usually turn out to be just that. If we can get him we should go for it.

Whether it’s Adama or Luiz, we’re leaving this dangerously late.

Another day gone by & we’re nearing the weekend …
