I'm confused - why is another Premier League club making a bid here? I thought it was only Tottenham that leave transfer business to the last few days of the window, everyone else has completed all their business well in advance right?

I think it's quite obvious that Martinez (and Vlahovic) was a player we made enquiries about in case we ended up selling Kane. Without the Kane sale we were never going to have the funds for him.

Likewise - can't see us pulling off Diaz and Traore together without selling GLC, Ndombele and/or Alli. "Reasonable" as the prices may seem - the club is still recovering from two years of heavy financial losses and unless Lewis has agreed to inject some extra cash into the business then we'll have to manage things carefully. That unfortunately means this will drag on to the end of the window, and even if it does miraculously come off there will be rumours of deal collapses, bid hijacks from PL rivals and hysterical fan meltdowns over the next week

Romano said Porto will not sell Diaz on deadline day. Needs to be sorted in next couple of days.

The other club probably does not need a transfer in this window - but are actually proactively going after a player they would have otherwise targeted in the summer - thus, completing their business "well in advance"...

It’s not people speculating that I take issue with and I’m not telling anyone not to do that. That’s normal and I agree a big part of why people come here. It’s that people express overwhelmingly negative opinions as if they are fact and talk themselves into a depressive state about it before any of us know what’s going to happen.

First Post here. Been following this board for about a decade. Or what feels like it!

I think people here are more Football manager than business minds.
No one is going to go and pay a full amount (unless desperate) for anything in business.
There are also lots of factors I imagine with buying players for millions.

I don't think it was a derisory offer and flat out take it or leave it.
Was an opening bid for negotiations.

Trust in the process. Enic out though hahaha

Don’t really see where he fits in at Liverpool. They have 3 or 4 exceptional forwards. Yes they are getting on but they’ve all still got 2-3 seasons in them and Jota is younger and has broken through to first 11. Don’t see him taking Mane’s place anytime soon.
