No and they’ll be good additions. However if you asked any fan what position we needed to look at in the window no one would’ve said the 2 they play in.

There's every chance Conte would disagree. The way we get dominated in midfield and struggle to break down more defensive teams, I think strengthening in CM is definitely something we needed to do, while Kulusevski has played an almost equal number of games between CM and RW in his career.

Every possibility he could be used as a RWB.

Two very smart bits of business so far IMO.

Just put SSN on for 5 mins before I shoot out.
Guys a Spurs fan apparently sitting roud table disussig transfers.
Mentioned Doherty as potential outgoings!!!
Fkin hope not unless we're replacing him.

They know nothing and are scrabbling around to fill up air time talking shit!

As per usual it’s not the manic transfer deadline day many predicted not just for us but for all clubs!

Not true. My feeling is if we are lucky, we can make it to summer with the attackers and defenders we have. But our ability to grab a top four or FA Cup progression requires players in the middle third that can move the ball to attack. Both these Juve guys are good passers and may have a greater impact in the short term than a cb or backup striker.

Not good. A RWB was the difference between a good and bad window imo.

Emerson and Doherty as our RWB options until the summer massively reduces our chances of finishing 4th.

Agree. No back up striker and no movement down the right hand side. The two positions Conte wanted strengthened and we’ve let him down. A concern.

Think it's crucial on outgoings before we can sign someone else.
If we can shift NBelly Lo Celso and Alli, i think we might get 1 more in, hopefully RWB or CF.
Strange that no info on Doherty or Rodon. need to shift Doherty if we are getting a RWB in, can shift Rodon without replacement.

They could turn out to be absolute assets to us there’s no doubting that. Just find it strange we went knocking on Juve’s door after they spent 70m on vlahovic, I’m all for FP helping juve out if it comes with Dybala though ?

And not ITK related at all, if this all starts again I'm done. Take it to the right thread until the window is closed.

We get the Juve pair signed, sealed and delivered, and then get Ndombele, Lo Celso, Dele out, I'd say that is a successful window.

I think Bentancur and Kulusevski will offer double what aforementioned three could for the rest of the season.

It puts us in a much better starting position for the summer. That's where the real business will happen.

I think we are trying to build value in the players we want shot of with the intention of making permanent moves away for them in the summer, hence possibly recouping more cash and allowing us a bigger budget for incomings. And squad spaces.

Tortoise and hare scenario.

A bit of prior planning and groundwork for the summer will be welcomed. I should imagine Paratici/Conte will have a list of targets as long as their arm in the summer. And I think we'll see possibly 3-4 in, with more outgoings. That's nearly half the team refreshed ready to kick on next season and challenge for some shit.

Our current squad is pretty crap, and we aren't a million miles off. If we make improvements to half the team we are going to be in the mix, no doubt. I know other teams will also improve, but that's always gonna happen. Most of them won't have nearly an entirely new and hungry starting 11.

Get rid of the wage drains, increase their transfer value through loans if possible, save some cash for the summer.

Splurge.

There's stuff still happening/ being discussed/worked on. Always the same on deadline day it's on, it's off, its back on again. Just because second rate aggregators posing as journalists don't know what is going on doesn't mean that there isn't. 11 hours to go and things are constantly changing, but it is not the time to start worrying just yet.
I don't think anyone should be worrying at all. Getting rid of the tat was the most important thing this month and on top of (hopefully) doing that, we've added quality in positions we needed to.

I know people are citing the need for a RB but in all honesty, while we already have two warm bodies in that position, it was never too likely.
Plus, we can maybe question the quality of Doc and Royal but at least they apply effort.

I'm happy as things stand already, so anything else is a total bonus for me.

Lost

a holding midfielder and a winger is what we’ve got yet we’ve been crying out for a playmaker and a striker for years now, I hope they both do brilliantly for us, but to me they suggest opportunist buys rather than strategic planning.
You will be disappointed.

1. Conte does want a midfield playmaker. He wants CMs who are work horses, technically strong, tactically intelligent. Bentancur is a fantastic addition and a significant upgrade for how Conte wants to play.
2. Kulusevski can play anywhere cross the front 3, as can Son. If we need to wait until the summer to get proper backup for Kane so be it.

I am disappointed we do not seem close to getting a proper attack minded RWB. But I am realistic enough to know that there are not many options available right now. And I also appreciate the importance of clearing ~£400k a week off the wage bill to free up funds and space in the squad for the serious targets we have for the summer.

Kulusevski changes a lot of this though.

Because he will often cut in, that means Emerson will get more space, we won't need a RWB to do so much by himself.

Also, Kulusevski can play alongside Kane or just behind.

We could also play Bergwijn centrally With Kulusevksi linking up.

Bergwijn, Lucas and Son is more problematic because they like to run and need space, but Kulusevski has more guile and creativity, which should link it together better.

The problem is, we get 4th and we're shopping at a different store in the summer. We need a rebuild either way and the next few months determines the quality of the players we might be able to attract to that rebuilt.
