No genuinely. From top to bottom we have that issue. Players have no focus and fans are defeatist. All I saw before the game was “oh wouldn’t it just be us to lose now after beating City”. And then immediately after rushing to be the first to call the result “Spursy”. It may seem inconsequential but it’s all contributing to this weird culture of failure we have as a club. Stinks.
I get you but it takes more than a psychologist- or less. Poch turned that around in 2016/17 when we put aside the disappointment of our end to 2015/16 and saw WHL out in style.

also the champions league run showed a lot of mental strength with a weakened squad omits last fumes.

Conte can bring that.

Dare I say it, it feels a bit like Liverpool during Klopp's first season. Capable of the spectacular, but also the awful. It is clear that we have vision, but not the personnel to necessarily pull it off.

The issue isn't tonight's result, it was the 2 pathetic defeats to Saints and Wolves. The defeats to those 2 put alot of pressure on tonight and we failed. Leeds is must win, no if's no but's
Yeah fuck all this, it's burnley away nonsense, it's not in isolation, we were clinging on to battling this season for dear life with that City win looking like we dug ourselves out of a hole then we get the fucking shovel and smack ourselves over the head with it again.

I thought our movement of the ball this evening was dull, negative and cowardly, We moved the ball up to halfway and then turn it back to the defence to recycle again.

I get the impression that some of the risk taking has been taken away from the players leading to fear of trying progressive balls.

Pep, Klopp and Poch all had the same issues with consistency in their first seasons. A lot of stuff Conte requires hasn't developed yet and some of that will come with new tools (players)

Well that's not coming from Conte. He hates it when players don't play with progression. He punishes players for playing 'safe'

What you are looking for at this stage is evidence of patterns of play and a style. We've shown that in abundance. The consistency always comes later. Precisely the same thing happened with Klopp and Pochettino here during 14/15.

Leeds have just lost 6 nil. I’m not panicking but if we can’t beat them on Sunday then even I’m going to start to get nervous about how things will pan out. Even a draw tonight would have been acceptable.

We will destroy Leeds for the same reasons we do good against Leicester and Man City; they play a high line and don't sit back.

Sadly the rest of the league has discovered that we play with 5 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders every game and struggle if you just sit back.

There was a post earlier about us not being ready for the CL. I agree, not with this squad. However, Man United just got a draw in Madrid tonight and their squad is a bit of a mess too.

Same as Arteta at Arsenal. He’s now weeded out the bad eggs, created a new spine with talented youngsters. Work to be done still (their midfield is shite) but this is how it goes the first season or even two.

Though we really need to be winning against Leeds. They are beyond woeful.

Conte won’t walk but fuck me some of these players will test him

Oh FFS! WILL PEOLE STOP SAYING SHIT LIKE THIS.

Conte is a manager. It's his FUCKING JOB to MANAGE these players. It's not like he walked into Spurs thinking it was Man City and Levy took off his Oil Slaver costume and said "SURPRISE!"

If Conte "walks" because he can't improve the players he has - with reinforcements in Summer - then he's a SHIT MANAGER. Okay? Being able to get great players to play well is not hard. His success at Chelsea wasn't that big a deal. His success at Inter was much more in line with what he's taken on at Spurs - albeit in a much tougher league.

He's told the Club his assessment. He's moved on the players he thinks he has to move on. Now he gets to work. That's his job.

sheesh

This smacks of a lack of ambition. We can’t motivate ourselves to win after huge victories. Almost like the occasional spectacular result is enough.

The players have it too easy. I think it’s obvious that they played well while under threat of being sold in January and while Conte was evaluating the squad. The closer we get to the summer and they will start trying that extra 10% that they aren’t now and results will pick up. But will it all be too little too late by then.

Look we all knew what was going to happen. It’s not like it’s a surprise or anything. Anyway, I really don’t think Conte will go this summer. I was fearing it at one point, but now, no. He comes across as a man of principal and he believes he can do something here and bearing in mind how bad we have been for years, it would be a massive feather in his cap if he can get us challenging for a title again. However, he has to be backed and this topsy turvy season, would show Danny Boy how bad we are and if he listens to Conte, we could build something. If we start next season with Winks, Emerson, Etc then Conte won’t be coach.

I feel strangely calm. Like you say, I can see the similarities in Klopps first season and what we keep getting told is that for us and Conte, it's all about next season. If he's backed, then we'll hopefully see some progression. Right now, 8th is about right, I genuinely don't think we're that good , your eyes don't lie! West Ham, Arsenal and United are all better teams ( although I do see West Ham faltering with Europe still). Europa League would be a decent for us, sadly.
