Agreed, and it goes both ways. In terms of having two players who can defend space at a high level in this system which wants to stretch the pitch horizontally. It asks a huge amount out of both players, I think Bentancur cramping up is an example of the work both get through. As well as them both trusting one another in all scenarios to be in the right place to mop up, win the ball, receive a pass, etc. Football is all about mini-relationships throughout the pitch, and the two are working and moving as one unit currently.

Bentancur got a lot of praise today and deservedly so, but great job PEH. I’ll leave this here.

Lets not forget how well we did with Skipp and Hojbjerg together. With Bentancur we now have 3 quality midfielders. The obvious weak link is Winks, I couldn't care less about who we feel is better between the others. They all bring something to the table and I'm confident in any combination of 2 out of those 3. Need Skipp back so we can finish the season with them 3 in rotation.

PEH seems to get a lot of hate from our fanbase and I really don't understand why.
Maybe it's because he was relatively cheap, came from a lower level team, or isn't from a fashionable footballing nation? Maybe it's because people don't appreciate the type of player that he is?
Maybe it's just that people need to be a bunch of critical ****s and need a scapegoat?!
Personally, I like him, appreciate what he brings to the team and think he's been improving steadily since he's been with us. His attacking play has been a lot better this season, especially with Bentancur next to him.

Well said... imagine if we sell Winks and get another CM we can trust. Then we will be bulletproof in midfield.

I don't get the hate for him, but he can be a bit frustrating.
He has been playing well for a while now, but the 2 things that can frustrated me are:
When we are defending he needs to hold his position better (he did Vs West Ham) and not try and do some crazy press that only leave 1 cm to cope.
The passing back. It's not that he does pass back (most do at some point), it's that at times he has options to move the ball forward but doesn't turn his body to receive the ball. So it just goes back to the same player.
Watch his Bentancur receives the ball and turns into space.
Hojbjerg just needs to be able to do that so he can link defence to attack a bit better. He is fine one he gets turned, some nice balls into the forwards.
Bentancur, Hojbjerg and Skipp are a good option for CM and could be any combination. Bentancur would play when fit though.
