We heard about our budget being about £150m earlier this year. Was that said knowing we would be getting this injection? Or is this ‘extra’?

You’d assume, like every summer, we already had some sort of transfer budget set aside so saying our budget is now £150m seems to forget about the original budget no?

My opinion is we probably had a transfer budget of around £70m for the summer. Then we’ll be taking around £80m from the injection towards transfers (with the other £70m going to infrastructure) taking us to £150m. Then with Champs league and sales we’re looking at well over £200m.

edit: Matt Law above suggests Conte gets the full £150m so are we looking at £150m plus the transfer budget already set aside plus UCL money plus player sales???

It's undeniably a massive statement of intent from the ownership and it'll serve as a huge beacon to prospective players that this is a Tottenham outfit different from previous and will you want a join a club with an elite manager, world class talents in Kane and Son underneath the widely acknowledged 'best stadium in Europe' who will now invest heavily in supplementing the talent here.

I mean, that's a pretty fucking easy sell right?! Will make others sit up and take note for sure - perhaps even reconsider other ventures and tout themselves to join such as Dybala looking like heading to Inter may now reconsider, who knows.

Point is, this isn't little ol' Tottenham anymore and clearly we are now operating as a different animal.

Still think we need to temper expectations a touch, of course this £150m is massive for the club and absolutely something to be excited about etc, but its only going to lead to mass hysteria when we don't actually bring in 3x superstar massive £60m+ signings.

We're much more likely to bring in say Bastoni for what, £60m+ and then hopefully reinforce/improve the squad in a more 'normal' way. If we can shift some big earners, Ndombele + Lo Celso particularly, then who knows.

Wages are also a massive factor, £150m doesnt stretch far when you're dealing with the level of player we're speculating over.

Im far more excited/hopeful about the prospect of Paratici out there able to hopefully pick up a couple more Kulusevski/Bentancurs of the world to compliment the likes of Bastoni or whoever our big targets end up being. Its such a good position to be in and the club should be praised for their commitment finally.

The statement said it is a sum that we can draw down on as and when we need so it the entire amountif we need it.
If we have other funds for transfers we will obviously be using that but we will also be drawing down as much as we need of this money to buy the players we want to buy.

Apparently us and Utd have bid €50m for Torres - he prefers Utd according to this source.

Would much rather Bastoni/Gvardiol/Bremer/N’dicka anyway.

He seems like a left footed Lindelof to me.

Think he’s broken a few stories for us over the past few years.

You know the drill: Incredibly reliable if it’s good news, shit-stirrer if it’s bad news.

he was a while back but doesn’t break many stories anymore because he got a promotion (i believe) and isn’t a spurs specific reporter anymore

Depends, is what he's said about us good?

Cheers, everyone. He's the one just reported the Kostic to Spurs news. I'll let @THFCSPURS19 decide if it's worth making a Kostic thread, I have a bunch of articles and videos I want to share :LOL:

Possibly but I can't imagine the wage structure will budge too much so it doesn't unsettle the rest of the squad.
I doubt the structure will budge at all but the earnings will go up because there's more money available now.

He really doesn't want to come to Spurs. Last season his excuse was " I want to experience CL with Villareal" and then now he wants to what, play in the Europa League with Manu?:LOL: Lets move on from him.

So, this is fair, to a degree. But, we aren’t talking about players coming from PSG, Real Madrid, or other clubs that pay out ridiculous wages. Literally every player we have been linked to would see a wage increase coming here but fit within our wage structure easily.

Also, we have already made progress on wage relief in the departure of Dele Alli, the extension of the departure of Gio Lo Celso, and perhaps another move for Ndombele. That alone goes a long way in providing wage relief. Add on to that what will be more exits, we are talking about reducing the wage bill quite drastically, giving us plenty of mobility to not only bring players in but offer extensions (Hello Harry).

As for the players we are going after (allegedly), Kostic, Forster, Spence are going to be Uber-affordable from a wages standpoint. All-in-all, I don’t think the players we are likely to go after will have any sort of major impact on our wage bill. I would venture a guess that after all the outgoings it’ll be a near-wash, if not end up saving the club money.

And just to add to this, we have seen just how creative Paratici is in offsetting up front costs. If even 2 of the deals we line up can be setup that way, it allows even further flexibility to bring in other players. It’s going to be an incredibly busy summer, and I really believe we are looking at a summer where our net spend could well exceed £100m when it’s all said and done.
