Is that the release clause fee? It was the amount I was imagining.

If it is then I’d be keen. His fitness needs work but he’s got the lot. It’s an interesting link, that’s for sure.
It's rumoured but no idea if true. Apparently it's the release clause to a club in the CL.

Does Conte like unpredictable players? Everyone playing for him seems to have a job that they stick to and an end product, I don’t see that with ASM

If Bergwijn leaves then it would make sense to get another Prem league proven player to replace him. As long as we get a target man as well.

It'll mean more money for other areas, and as both will most likely be squad players, it could be a smart move.

You could say that about any of our targets though, I'd rather Conte gets who he wants rather than having to settle for names lower down on the list, which Traore most certainly will be.

Having said that, I'm not too bothered about ASM.

If we buy Traore over ASM it won't simply be about price.

It'll be because many other targets were unattainable.
Yep. Obtainability is a big factor. If this £35m release clause is true and Newcastle aren't going to offer ASM a new contract then he unexpectedly becomes available. Left to put in a bid Newcastle find acceptable and it's a no-go.

I believe Barcelona have decided not to buy Traore which likely makes him available.

For 35m I'd for sure take ASM. He's a really amazing option to have off the bench - speed, dribbling, eye for goals/assists, still young.
And given Conte's capability as a player whisperer, taking a chance on a few rough gems is guaranteed to unearth a diamond or two. If ASM has the right mentality, then his upside could be tremendous.

I just think both of them are squad options, rather than must haves for Conte. As they both offer similar in terms of progressing the ball he probably doesn't mind. This is just me speculating.
Ally Gold only mentioned Patrici being a fan of both, rather than Conte requesting them.

He’s an intelligent guy which gives me hope that Conte could work his magic on him. Potential is huge.

Yeah, also playing under Steve Bruce, I can’t imagine that did much for his development those 2ish years.

Not the biggest fan of ASM, but thinking about it, for times when we have lots of games in a short period of time and we need to keep the frontline fresh without dropping the quality too much and maintaining some sort of fear factor, he wouldn't be the worst option.

The big thing is that opposing teams would still think ok, no Son/Kulusevski, but we still have to keep an eye on ASM as he can be dangerous. And despite what we think of either of them, neither Lucas or Bergwijn quite have that.

Not sure how high up the list I'd like him to be but wouldn't be displeased if the transfer came to be.

Looks like a rough diamond to me, the right coach and the right system could make him shine.
