He’s been one of the few positives to come out of Newcastle in recent years and it would be heartbreaking for their fans to lose their favourite player. For that reason alone I’m all in with the bonus being that he’s genuinely a great winger and constant threat.

I happen to watch numerous Newcastle games last season, before & after Howe appointment. For me, Saint Maximin never gave up in all those. Every game did his part. Always available for the ball. Always tried to do his best for the team.

Whenever Newcastle got hold of the ball in midfield and he had at his feet , he made it count. Its not correct to say, ASM never looks up & tries to pass to teammates - he is somewhat self centered but at same time, he did link up well with others, especially with Joelinton

If we do get him, I feel it would be a great move for club &. player. He will get the ball & space in more dangerous areas of pitch with better quality around him. Also, for us, we can have that relief player for Sonny (who will be 30 by July). ASM in games against teams that park the bus could be lethal.

At the very least he will be a fun signing to watch in Spurs stadium. I am all for this signing to happen

Keep in mind that his dribbling stats (excellent) and his general attacking/chance creating stats (quite good) are in spite of being the lone attacking threat for his team most of the time, frequently double-teamed, and having to drop well into his own half when his team struggle to progress the ball. He feels like a player who could seriously go up a level with a good team and solid system around him.

Not sure he’s a Conte style player tbh. Great on his day but is inconsistent, not to mention I have doubts over the work he’d do defensively!

Bums off seats. We love that at the Lane. A young Ginola in the making. He would improve dramatically with Kane, Sonny and Kulu. Get him in. Would be a cult hero.

Sorry if it’s been mentioned but release clauses don’t the monies have to be paid in one go.

we usually like to structure our payments over many years so it would be an unusual deal for us

I'd like to see him or/and Traore under Conte. Especially even more that we have an established front three.

I reckon you could get 40m for Bergwijn(who wants to go) and Lucas (Turning 30 and won't offer a new deal to) and pay 50m for ASM and Traore. Get a striker in and I'd be extremely happy.

Others won't be but I don't know if I can name any other reserve wingers/inside forwards that'd I'd want then those two for that price and they're both PL ready.

Conte is functional in how he sets his team up but typical Conte squad or team, always had place for great dribblers and pace merchants like Hazard.

While I agree with you (Bale, Ginola and VDV) these players are a “luxury” and tend to not do the defensive work required in a Conte style setup.

i just don’t see it being someone Conte would like however exciting he is! I love watching him don’t get me wrong but we need effective and productive (Kulu is a great example) not exciting and inconsistent!

Hazards a different level to ASM, any team would accommodate a world class player (which is what Hazard was). Maybe just my opinion but Hazard was consistent and still put a reasonable shift in!

Only way we get £40m for Bergwijn is if a wealthy side suddenly becomes interested. The strongest reported interest right now is from Ajax, who won't pay that sort of money.

ASM will cost £35m. I believe Adama has on year left on his contract and Barcelona aren't taking up the option to buy him. So a cheap fee is possible.

My guess is Conte will want one of ASM and Traore but like you I wouldn't be opposed to both.

I would just ask from a scouting perspective say we accepted offers for Bergwijn and Moura this summer who would you replace them with?

The only others that I'd think of are Leao (seems unattainable), Richarlson (Might be huge money, fans divided on him too), Nunez, or Terrier. So I at least see why the links are there for sure!!

I meant 40m for Bergwijn and Lucas. Lucas could stay, but hes getting to that point where he is hitting 30 years old and probably won't be renewed by the club, so if they could cash in on both and get those two for only 10m net profit, I see the thinking, if ASM has the rumored clause

I quoted Hazard only to say, he too would be looked upon as 'not typical Conte' player.
ASM is not lazy but like Hazard , he doest track back much either. But Conte found a way to work with Hazard to not compromise the team defensively. If we go get ASM, thats the part Conte will have to work on

I agree I can see why the links are there I’m just not sure he’s at the top of the list!

Leao - Great player but possibly out of our reach.
Terrier or Nunez - Likely and more suited to Contes style
Richarlison - Big fee agree with you.

Totally agree there too.. Nunez is rumored to be a big fee (although he can cover ST too) as well and Terrier looks the part just a bit of an unknown on how he'll settle.

Should be interesting any way!

A player I love to watch but he has to be the most un-conte type player I could imagine.

I'd be amazed if Antonio wanted him but delighted if he did and we got him here.
