Honest to God, I cannot understand those posters who are throwing their toys out of the pram about not getting Eriksen.

Spurs under Conte are streets ahead of United. Eriksen has likely been offered a tasty wedge and is a probable starter in a powder puff United midfield. He will add to that powder puffery and United will continue to fail to address the many issues they have. Move along; nothing to see there.

Be thankful we have Bissouma and a team (in general) that will be even more prone to resorting to shithousery this season.

United must be getting desperate in their transfer plans if they’re paying what eriksen was rumoured to want

This is a dangerous mentality. Yes, we SHOULD be way better than them. Like we SHOULD have been far ahead of them last season. But we weren't. They have an ability to perform way better than they should, and I wouldn't be shocked if they somehow fluke their way in front of us next season. It depends on the rest of their transfer business.

1. New coach and coach new to the league vs. Conte. And Conte with a full preseason as well as last year with a team of his choosing vs leftovers as useful as many may prove to be under ETH

2. can't see any signings that will make them any stronger than us on any area of the pitch in one year's time

3. an already healthy mentality in our club

maybe in 2 to 3 years (and i could be wrong) but don't see it this year

I think that not signing him actually shows ambition, if we get another AM.

The club had the option to sign a very good player on a free here, but instead is looking to pay out for a player who suits our squad more now/in the future. As much as I wanted Eriksen and felt he’d be perfect, this decision is exactly the opposite of what ENIC have been accused of in the past.

Given what’s happened to him over the last year, even if the move is motivated primarily for financial reasons, could we blame him?

He’ll no doubt improve United but we have our own system and only really have a slot for two midfielders. We wouldn’t be able to guarantee him starting and he would be wanting pretty high wages too.

In a way I agree. I just hope we still bring in one more creative player to compete with Kulusevski. I think we need that to round off the squad.

If AM is important to AC, then there will be better irons in the fire already. easy to be at peace with this when you see the trend. Thanks CE.

Major disappointment. Would have added a lot to our team, and he improves them.

There aren't really many people ' throwing their toys out of the pram' - just some who think he has a skillset that our squad currently lacks so, at this moment, are a bit disappointed.

Hopefully we address our lack of creativity, other than Kane, with someone better and more suitable.

If he told us he was coming but then pulled back and followed the money elsewhere then fair enough. Good luck to him but I'm not overly upset.

I think we should have tried for him, but as soon as it was said Man Utd were interested back in the Spring I thought he'd end up there. Annoying as he will definitely improve them. Will put him in my fantasy team thats for sure.

We're building a mean machine. He's a terrific player but I'm not too sure where he fits in with where we're going.

And as others have said, I can't blame him for doing what's right for him and his family.

Anyway, COYS.

Lol @ "he's gone there for the money".

Or, alternatively, they were the best club to make him a firm offer after we didn't follow up on our interest?

As soon as we heard the numbers our interest dropped. As a bit part squad player on a decent(not crazy) wage structure it was worth looking at. Some of you won't like to hear it and probably doubt it's validity(due to his previous club status), despite me posting it a while back, but that is all he was ever seen as by Conte and FP. Was never seen as an option we were desperate to bring in.

If that's what it is then I'm perfectly happy with that. I'm sure if he were a key target then we'd have got closer to Utd's offer.
