Eric Dier wants to leave Tottenham as a free agent rather than quit in the January transfer window. It is believed talks over a new contract have collapsed – with the 30-year-old’s current deal set to come to an end when the 2023-24 campaign concludes.

I'm happy with this outcome. I'm sure he can be a decent player elsewhere, perhaps at a slightly lower level. But he sure doesn't have a future here. Thank you for your service, Eric. Good luck.

Wish him all the best but glad he's not getting a new contract.

Reported to be on around £85k a week. A squad place freed up and hopefully a player more suited to Ange's style to be backup.

Well that's come as a surprise!
I wonder if it's his way of making clear he won't be sold or loaned out in January so maybe a mutual termination of his contract then might be worthwhile.
He's probably thinking about the rest of his career in the context of his life after football, I don't doubt he'll be giving it an awful lot of consideration.
I wish him well and all the best wherever he goes.

No idea what he'd think otherwise. Isn't it obvious and honest from Ange since he came and evaluated that he's not getting game time? I know he has every rights to run down the contract, but I really hope he could cap his time here with us with a great departure signing away instead of staying, being unhappy and not freeing up the wages.

A shame about that appendicitis he went through, I genuinely feel it had an effect on his career. But tbh I think he's one of those players that's become synonymous with a certain era at this club, and that era has been over for a long time. I genuinely wish him the best because he's definitely Spurs, and I'll always remember his best days.

In some ways I’m surprised if he doesn’t look to leave in January to make a push for the euros

He'll get a better salary if he goes on a free.

It might be beneficial for both parties if he can find a 6 month loan. We save on some wages for an unneeded player and free up a squad place and he can put himself in contention for a Euros place.

Does anyone fancy giving the guy a break? For me, there were 2 or 3 seasons when he was bossing it. I don't think it's his fault that he doesn't fit into the new system, so I thank him for his service and wish him the best if he goes. Who knows, maybe he comes back in 5 years from nowhere and becomes our best player like Jonny Evens at M Utd! I do like riding this wave though! watch COYS!

Surprised he was offered a new contract, we never play him so why would we extend him ?

Course he wants to leave on a free instead of being bought in January, only spurs benefit if he is sold in Jan, if he leaves for free in summer he will get a much better deal from whoever signs him so he should sit tight until then.
