I hope it ends up with Braithwaite taking them to court. Mind you, Braithwaite is already quite wealthy due to real estate deals he does in USA, so he probably has enough money and legal contacts if Barca tried to do something illegal or pressure him into leaving without paying him what he's due. Also, **** the stupid fans who are mad at Braithwaite and NOT the club for the current predicament they're in.

The fans voted for this which is another reason I hope it backfires, they'll have no one to blame

I'm sickened by the fact I spent my childhood in awe of Barcelona; visiting the stadium before my teens, and loving many of their great players.

The way they've behaved for years means I've now flipped 180, to the point where I hope they receive the harshest of sanctions and/or cease to exist. Despicable ****s.
Indeed. Mes que un club my arse.

A bit of a change of subject

They probably should have specified cervical spine rather than leaving it ambiguous as my initial reaction was his womb hurts

They won’t have to sell them. They just won’t be able to register them to play in La Liga. They’ll still be able to pay in the champions league.
I did assume that but it's hardly ideal not being able to play your 3 massive signings in the league.

It’s amateur hour. They just keep buying and buying even though their skint. It’s like buying a new tv when you can’t pay the electric bill.

Happened last year and they worked a way to register their signings. They're also working on getting Messi back next year.

Lol what will they pay Messi with? Magic promises? Or will they just hand the club over to him?

The part that gets me is that Barca are claiming poverty in trying to convince De Jong, Braithwaite & others to accept less than Barca have legally, contractually committed to pay them. At the same time Barca are splashing the cash on Lewa, Raphina, Alonso, etc.

And now that De Jong & Braithwaite are, understandably, saying "well, if you have enough money to buy all these new shiny toys, you have enough to pay me", Barca are insinuating to them that Barca will default on their contacts due to vague (and most likely BS) threats about "illegality of the previous board", putting those players in a position of either accepting less than they're owed or having to sue Barca for the money that Barca are legally obligated to pay them.

For me, to see any business act that way is despicable. Either you're completely skint and you need to debt relief, or you have the money to pay massive wages and over 100m transfer fees for new players. To do both at the same time beggars belief and speaks to a business with no shame or decency.

Another example of the total lack of power, effectiveness and control the governing bodies have.

We have a world cup in Qatar, two premier League clubs under state ownership and now this.

They're taking the absolute piss and la Liga, uefa or even FIFA should be stepping in and putting a stop to it.

They won't though as they're corrupt and powerless.

Not sure what this has to do with Newcastle or Man City
Equally, it does appear that La liga are entirely stepping in (by not allowing them to register players they can’t afford to pay)
The national governing bodies actions are are exactly why this is an issue for Barcelona. They’re holding the club to account so they can’t just throw money (that’s they don’t appear to have) at the problem.
its fantastically intriguing watching them panicking to find ways around it.
(and I’m sure somehow we’ll benefit wrt lenglet too)

Don’t they have the equivalent of the PFA in Spain?

Kounde and Raphina to wrap up the window?

Oh, and what a bunch of spivs at that club. I'd limit it to just the movers and shakers but the fans actively chose this. Decades of smug superiority down the pan overnight.

Exactly, its so bizarre.

You could understand it a little more if Barca were really struggling, signing no one and trying to get the wage bill down.

But how do you try and force a current player to drop their wages by 50% when the club has spent so much on new players and wages at the same time?

Any player involved is well within their rights to say fuck off my contract is my contract, no idea how the club could potentially take any player to court? Makes no sense.

Messi had agreed to a bigger pay cut than 50% the summer he left but that violated La Liga regulations for some reason. A 50% reduction is the most that was allowed.

But now he's been out of the league for a year that surely changes and he can be paid whatever he and Barca agree, so he would likely not demand big wages if he wanted to come back.
