But we don't operate in a vacuum... What other clubs do matters greatly, whether we like it or not.
You can be happy with the changed approach this window while realizing that it's nothing out of the ordinary in the world of the Premier League. Yes, these are giddy heights for us Spurs fans, but owners pumping 100-200m into their club for a summer transfer window is becoming par for the course. The Chavs are blowing everyone away with their spending while Woolwich also have been investing heavily for a few years in a row. So at the very least it's running to stand still.
The only thing highlighted by the appearance of this ENIC investment is how much they have been starving the club of funds in their previous 21 years...

I think it's more akin to our last Summers managerial hunt.
To be fair Nuno would probably be an improvement on De Gea right now, I mean he's managed a Champions League win which is more than De Gea can say. ;)

Don't get blindsided by the fact he is a very good player. The way a player will fit into Conte's system and plans is more important than a players overall ability.
Yep, right now we are still ‘2-3 players who fit into contes system’ short of really having the tools to go toe to toe all season and close the points gap on City, Lpool, Chelsea. They don’t have to be huge money signings or super well known players but really hoping we can get minimum 2/3 of : CB, CM, AM in before the window closes but probably will depend on the outgoings.

SMS is an absolute baller but Malinovskyi could be just as effect for what conte wants/needs for example, all depends on his vision for the squad.

Why did you talk about bringing in players that fit Conte’s scheme then say we need to buy an AM when we don’t play with one. It’s literally what Trix is saying. AMs like SMS can be great players, but we aren’t going to play them in Conte’s setup.

I think Conte is now getting more comfortable changing formation. We saw that against Chelsea and I’m not sure he would have done that last season as I don’t think he felt he had the players to do it. I think if we were to bring in a player like SMS he would see a lot of game time personally.

Rome wasn't built in a day and it even took God 6 days to create the universe and he had infinite funds.

If only Enic would sell the club to him/her. We could use those unlimited funds

I’m talking more about the profile and characteristics of the player fitting what conte wants rather than superstar big names who might on paper be a great player but not have the characteristics that conte wants, that is more that trix means.

also by AM I mean a ‘n.o 10’ as conte calls them which we do play with either side of the striker.

Chelsea were the only team we used a back 4 against last season. I don't get the feeling we'll see it very often as Tuchel is the only manager, other than maybe Potter, that has completely shut down our attack like that.

Very much the exception that proves the rule I think, rather than an indication that we'll regularly switch. I suppose Richarlison does make it a lot more viable, though.

I think Conte pretty much said himself last season, that he'd look over to the bench and think "what the fuck am I supposed to do here?".

That's why I rate our business so highly because he now looks to the bench and there are so many options to change a game, if need be.

He hates to lose so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him make changes to try and win games, especially with the 5 subs to play with.

I'm sure that I remember a few times last season when chasing a game we took off the LWB and pushed Ben to LB to get Bergwijn onto the pitch, away at Leicester being one, so he's made formation changes during games for a fair while but usually in desperation. There did seem to be a more planned intent vs Chelsea, especially in that we reverted it afterwards. Conte said after the game that it's an option for us to use but that we just need to work on it to be as good as the normal formation, so I wouldn't be surprised if we do see it more often this season as it's obviously in his mind.

Agree. As you say it’s only really Tuchel and Potter who seem to really stifle our 3-4-3 so much so that conte has to switch formation, but I think that’s last resort and 3-4-3 will be used a good 80-90% of the time.
